So I have officially ordered my tests from Igenex, which should come in this week. I am hoping to get them drawn on Friday. Does anyone know how long it takes to get results once the tests are sent back? I am sooo nervous!! I am a self-diagnoser and am going out on a whim for this, and maybe this is why I am nervous. Any self-diagnosers out there to give support? How did you think the results would turn out, and was it different from what you thought? Are there people who have had all negative results but been clinically diagnosed? Sorry to ramble...just nervous! Thanks to everyone!

Hi,
Congrats on taking the first step.
1. Who is ordering the tests for you? Who will sign off of the lab work? Most PC are not comfortable signing that... so you will need to find a Dr who will.
2. You can't draw the blood on a Friday... I don't remember the cut off time of the week that you must send the blood work off to Igenex... so you might want to call Igenex to verify. My memory is foggy.
3. I'm in CA and it took around 2 weeks for my results to come back.

The lab that I had draw my blood also said not to do it at the end of the week. She said the test for Lyme requires the blood to be handled in a very specific manor. The risk of the sample sitting at the post office over the weekend is too high. I had my blood drawn on Monday, and it took 2 or 3 weeks to get the results.
I had my first appt with my LLMD shortly after the results came back. I did not have a CDC positive, but to my LLMD, it was most certainly a positive test, combined with my symptoms. So it would have been read as negative, if a non literate doctor had been reading the results.
I hope this helps a little. And no, I was not convinced I had Lyme before I was diagnosed. I was infected 14 1/2 years ago, and my symptoms would come and go over the years. It was 13 years later before my symptoms were constant and disabling. So I did not believe it until I saw the LLMD. Now I know better, and realize I have a classic Lyme case. 42 out of 54 symptoms!

My PCP is going to sign off on it...however she is an FNP however in AZ they have the same rights as MD's and DO's....I already called and asked if she would sign it and she said she would...she has practically ordered every test I have asked for and she is the one who has found the right path so far. I will have to wait and read the instructions that come with the kit. But thanks for the heads up. Two weeks does seem like forever! Yikes! I just really am impatient. I have been sick forever now and just want to know what is going on, and how to get better. Thanks for the input!

My first test was one band unable to identify. I challenged on next 2 yrs. later...and was pos. So the proof is in the treatment not the tests...

I was negative Lyme test, however my MD stated that they were VERY unreliable and Lyme should be diagnosed by clinical observation (symptoms).
He became aware of Lyme as his wife was DX.

Lyme prion like proteins can hide many infections...Don't forget they may require challenge as well... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21941214 2011 Sep 21 ABSTRACT: Cat scratch neuroretinitis (CSN) is a clinical diagnosis supported by serological testing.
We present 2 cases of CSN in which initial acute titers were negative or equivocal for Bartonella henselae while convalescent titers were shown to be positive.
We report these cases to emphasize that a single acute negative titer is insufficient to exclude the diagnosis of CSN and that convalescent titers should be obtained in patients for whom there is a high clinical suspicion of the disease.
