I just saw it. Wow that was trippy!! I mean they found DNA of the bacteria that causes Lyme Disease in his bone marrow!
Now I'm wondering if we were to get a bone marrow biopsy then we would know for sure if we have Lyme! But on second thought forget it, that procedure is VERY PAINFUL!! Shudder...

Hey to the 5,000 yr old disease. Tincup you are an Icon in my heart... Ditto Kudos. The fact they with held Lyme Tst used and did it meet The "CDC's" Ten Bar Code. Or did they even contact CDC < Can't Diagnose Crap > from Shineola!!!
I want to ask a question re The Q-RiBb Test? With a 99%-100% accuracy

By the way, this is the SAME MUMMY that was written about several years back because he has tattoos all over his body that they discovered were in *acupuncture points*.
This was at least 1000 to 2000 years BEFORE acupuncture was thought to have been discovered/founded in China.
They couldn't figure out why he would need acupuncture other than early arthritis or the supposed "effects of difficult living."

Here's some great links about tzi's tattoos and health, etc.:
This is very interesting!
"Examination of the one fingernail found at the scene revealed that the Iceman suffered from a chronic illness of some kind.
Three of the so-called Beau-Reil lines across the nail indicate that tzis immune system was subjected to periods of severe stress 8, 13 and 16 weeks before his death.
The most recent line is also the most pronounced."

I have heard of a lyme patient having lyme found in a bone marrow biopsy. Patient had the initiative to do this and found a doc who would carry out the procedure.
However, I don't think this is done very often.

Where was the testing done? Testing as we all know is terrible and does miss many even chronic Lyme patients. And why would they have tested the mummy for lyme?

8man, I can only guess, but as they checked his DNA purity (after extracting bone fragments and liquifying and applying certain chemicals to them), they apparently found 3% that was not his own DNA,
and my guess is that then they probably compared that DNA to the database of known organisms. Borrelia burgdorferi (one of the main Lyme-causative bacteria species) happens to have been one of the VERY FIRST organisms to have had its entire genetic map (genome) completed.
Probably they ran the remaining 3% DNA against that DNA database (kinda like when they show forensic specialists running fingerprints against a fingerprint database in a crime movie)
and found that much of it matched up with the Lyme DNA they have in the database.
It's highly simplified, but I know they do similar when trying to identify an unidentified organism or animal, or even matching DNA found at a crime scene with criminal DNA databases.
The documentary was fascinating! I really hope the continuing research will shed new light on the current science of Lyme Disease and its treatment and diagnosis.

Now we know he had LYME Disease!
