Anyone have just these extremities (hands, feet, and nose) feel cold on a daily basis? Or is this just me? Anyone know what causes this or how to help it?

Thanks!

No, not just you. I have it too. My understanding is it is caused by lack of circulation.

Yup. But I have Raynaud's so it's a given.

Keep your body's core as warm as possible. The biggest issue for me is the fingers. They turn white and are painful if they get too cold.

I just bought a heated computer mouse online! Can't wait to see if it helps!!

I have low BP too... hopeforhealth.. you and I have similar BP's! I'm lucky to have it be 100/60. I call that a good day.

I have the cold extremities, and a low blood pressure also. 85/60 is very common for me. I never put the two together, but maybe you are onto something. The first diagnosis I received after being infected was Raynauds. I have not paid much attention to it since being diagnosed with Lyme, but I guess that is what this is after all.

You know what helps you stay warm (even if your fingers might be freezing cold)?

In Japanese, it's called "Haramaki" but it's basically a mini- tube top thing that goes around your stomach. There are various fabrics, thinner or thicker.. depending on how cold it is outside.

It really is comfortable and can really keep you warm.

Cold feet, in my case, seem to be one or several co-infections (acting together).

This has been clearing up with therapy.

Nope, not just you. Me too. Cold hands, cold feet, Raynauds with white toes, and oh my gosh - cold ears. Here I am in Florida, in the house, and my ears get so cold that I often put on a ski headband. It's ridiculous.

Me too. I think its because of lack of circulation due to us having thick blood.

Try looking into taking iodine or iodide like Lugols. It helps the thyroid which helps get rid of this issue. You may have to study it a bit if you have any other complications.

I started putting a few drops into a glass of water every day or 2 & it helped with this problem quite alot.

I had that until I did a round of chloroquine and primaquine. It went away and has never come back. Mine was really bad too. Cold, cold, cold hands...feet...nose all the time.

Cayenne Pepper normalizes blood pressure and can improve circulation in the hands/feet.

I found it helpful for relieving my poor circulation in my feet (was always struggling with cold, numb feet in Winter) when I started using Cayenne and chile peppers in my food. I have since stopped using the hot peppers (stomach can't handle it anymore) but I still have little to no problem with cold hands/feet, so it "cured" something for me...

Thick blood can also be part of this. Vitamin E will help reduce the thickness of the blood, and anti-inflammatories such as Tumeric, Bromelain, Ginger, etc., and/or systemic enzymes (such as Wobenzyme) can reduce the increased stickiness of the blood from inflammation.

I read it is caused by bartonella. The year my bart was most active I spent most of my time under a blanket.

I take iodine and turmeric. My stomach can't seem to handle the systemic enzymes, but I keep trying. I do have hypercoagulation.

I also have it but mostly on my feel and nose.

I also get cold very easily and start shivering and teeth chattering to the point where I look ridiculous (from shivering so hard) and not being able to talk (from teeth chattering so hard.)

Thanks for any and all help.

I have the same thing. Removing dairy from my diet has really seemed to help. Anytime I go off the wagon and eat cheese within a day or two the popsicle hands and feet are back.

I have read that when there is inflammation the first thing your body does is to slow down the blood flow to the outer extremities to try and fight whatever is causing the inflammation. For me it seems to be the dairy products among other things.

Thanks for the info, Nemom.. I recently found out I'm allergic or sensitive to dairy. I have it eliminated until I eat a baked sweet potato. Haven't figured out what to replace butter with.

Lymetoo,

There are 100% dairy-free, casein-free margarines. Nucoa is the only one I can think of right now, but there are others.

An alternative may be a little bit of dairy-free yogurt or sour-cream instead of butter... Or a bit of coconut oil...

Lymetoo,

Earth Balance makes a vegan butter (no dairy) that is delicious. It does have soy in it, as I recall.

Thanks on the tips... I just got back from a trip to a city where I could have found those things for sure. Will check around here....no chance at our local grocery store.

Smart Balance Light Buttery Spread in the tubs is dairy free and at the local grocery store. Make sure you pick up the LIGHT in the double tubs though. Fleishman's Unsalted stick butter is also dairy free and pretty easy to find.

I have this too!

It's much worse on my right side, the right leg is kinda numb and always feels cold!

I think it's a combination of Low BP and Inflamation. I take electrolytes to try to bring up my BP and it helps but what really helped was an anti inflamatory tea from my accupuncturist. Too bad it's really expensive so I had to stop.

How do we know if it's Reynolds?
