Months ago my cardiologist put me on a low dose beta blocker to help with heart palpitations and racing heart beat.
My heart would go from 80 to 100 for no reason.
I still experience heart palpitations, that come and go. The heart rate seems to be controlled.
The palpitations seem to wax and wane just like my other symptoms. I will experience more one week versus another week. I presume it is from my infection.
I am unable to do IV antibiotics because of the beta blocker.
Please share your experience with heart issues and beta blocker. I am trying to understand if this beta blocker is doing anything. I guess it might be if my heart rate is controlled, but the palpitations don't seem to be.
I presume if I visit with my cardiologist and I tell him I still have palpitations, he will keep me on it. Which makes sense.
I am trying to integrate more heart supplements. I take magnesium, fish oil and will start CoQ10 next week.
What supplements do you take that work for your heart? Should I be mindful of any supplements that I take while on a beta blocker?

I had/have the same symptoms as you, and toss in some hypertension now and then as well. I also take a beta blocker. My hypertension got so bad prior to dx and also with herxing that my MD added Catapres as well. I do not take any of these routinely anymore but I do still need them. I was not aware of the IV ABX and being on a beta blocker. Did your MD say why?

I was on a low dose beta blocker for 8 years until a year ago last August. I had the same symptoms as you and ended up in the ER many times.
I started taking Magnesium Citrate and CoQ10 and have had no need for the beta blocker ever since.

My LLMD said that I couldn't receive B12 shots since I was on a beta-blocker.
The reason is if I were to go into anaphylactic shock from the shot, the treatment(epinephrine) for the anaphylactic shock could be ineffective or cause hypertensive crisis (excessive effect). I'm guessing it would be the same with the IV.
I've been on a beta-blocker for years, and couldn't function without it! My resting HR used to be in the 120s+.
On one 24 holter I shot up to the 180s, and all I did that day was sit at the computer! (And walked to the bathroom and kitchen..)
Finally to a point where my hr stays around 100. I don't black out/pass out near as much as I used to, but like everything else sx wax and wane.
I also don't hear my pulse pounding in my head anymore. Palpitations never lightened from it for me either(have started to now from treatment, magnesium, CoQ10, etc).

I took a beta blocker for years and took B12 shots at the same time.
Now I'm on Verapamil due to A-fib. Definitely make sure you are on magnesium and CoQ10. ( or better yet, Ubiquinol )

I never even realized that my heartrate was fast. I don't have high blood pressure but when I stand especially after a big meal, my heartrate can go to 140(without excercise) The beta blocker helps me alot. I used to have to lie down every 15 minutes but now I can go for 2 mile walks and stand up for much longer periods. Now that my lyme is controlled and I am doing much better... I don't think that my hearrate would be that fast as often. I'm pretty sure that if I cut out a couple of bad habits that my adrenal glands would heal even more and I could probably lower my dose.

I have been on a low-dose beta blocker for over a year, with no issues. I had a lot of heart issues from lyme and co's (even coded in the ER once...not fun!). I am on numerous supplements, lots of different orals and was on 5 months of IV antibiotics...I haven't heard of any interactions and have had no issues.
'May want to confirm with a trusted pharmacist and/or your cardiologist...

IV and IM Magnesium. If your magnesium is depleted, taking orals is not enough to get you back to normal. I literally watched myself transform on an IV (no biggie - tiny needle in your hand, 20 minutes and you're done). Despite being on a beta blocker, I woke up with a 120+ heartrate, and BP 140/95, and it felt like my heart was galloping in my chest. I also had anxiety which is very uncharacteristic of me. By the end of the IV, bp was 110/70 and pulse was 80. I did a couple IV's and began supplementing with weekly IM shots, and never had palps again.

I am on propranolol and like you palps come and go. My tachycardia seems better though

I have SVT's and took a few different beta blockers. I felt that they helped my heart palps., but made me very tired. I have been taking hawthorne as a natural alternative, which has helped.
