Has anyone taken Fasigyn as opposed to Tindamax? I do not have insurance and cannot afford Tindamax. but I found a pharmacy that I can get Fasigyn much cheaper. from what I can tell it is just a generic form. any thoughts?

thanks Kadee! It is so much cheaper. My local pharmacy quoted me $260 a month for Tindamax, and the Fasigyn will be about $25 plus shipping.

Fasigyn is the brand name for Tinidazole (generic) and it's made by Pfizer. It is available all over the world but Pfizer never applied to market it in the U.S. Many years later Tindamax came on the market manufactured by Mission Pharmacal.
Fasigyn, Tinidazole and Tindamax are the same thing.
You can have Tinidazole compounded from a compounding pharmacy and it's much cheaper than Tindamax.
That is what we did in the days before Tindamax came on the market. Or you can get Fasigyn in any other country other than the U.S.

Abxnomore... that is all great to know. Thank you. I will call the compounding pharmacy today for a price quote. Do they put it into capsules? I got nystatin from them and it is a tub of powder. Very repulsive. I choke it down.

So I just spoke with the compounding pharmacy and it is illegal for them to make Tinidazole because it is commercially available in the US as Tindamax. It is so frustrating, the whole pharmaceutical system. If I want to stay sick and take any of the immune suppressant drugs that I can get for my autoimmune disorders that were misdiagnosed to me before my Lyme diagnosis, then I can get them for free. these are medications that can cost up to 10,000 dollars a month and there are plenty of programs for that drug companies to get them to the public for free. but if I want to get better, and take a medication that cost 250 dollars a month but cannot afford, there are no options for me. it is so frustrating!

I would call a different compounding pharmacy or several of them. Someone recently posted that they are having it compounded after I made the suggestion.
I hope it is not the case that you can't get it compounded. I have my thyroid meds compounded and there are equivalents being sold by big pharma?
Try this pharmacy and see if you have better luck. They are quite reputable

That's what I was told as well by my compounding pharmacy but luckily I was able to get (a 90 day supply even!) of TindaMax
I had several friends on the CPN site who ordered and used the Fasigyn with no problem.

Glad you got it and while I don't believe some are being told you can't have it compounded I find it hard to believe. I have many meds compounded that are available and made by pharmaceutical companies.
