I just finished 8 months on them and did not notice a noticeable change. But maybe they stopped things from progressing? Who knows. All I know is my butt is sore
But I know many people did well on them
I am also dealing with heavy metal issues so that may be a factor with me too.

I just want to say that bicillin shots have been incredibly helpful to me. They worked in the first month and I found that the next day after a shot I always have more energy and feel generally better. This got me to ask my LLMD increase the dose to two shots (right and left hip) twice a week and doing this increased regimen helped me even more.
I have taken tons of oral abx over the years but taking bicillin was a real turning point for me.
The only dilemma I face is that I cannot get off the shots completely without relapsing, but I have come to accept this.

Doesn't insurance cover Bicillin shots? If your insurance covers, oral ABX, why wouldn't it cover shots?
I'm on oral ABX (Ceftin, Flagyl, & Zithromax) and NOT getting any better. I was thinking of trying Bicillin shots instead.
BUT, there is NO WAY I could ever afford Bicillin shots if I have to pay for them instead of insurance!

I had to pay for my Bicillin, money well spent, this was by far the most helpful thing I've done. I did them for 6 months. I got energy back, lost brain fog, and finally stopped herxing everyday. It went into cycles, then stopped.

I have been doing them for three months three times a week MWF and prior to that I had a month break and my knees and everything went pretty crazy. In essence the drug they gave me to transition me basically for coverage was not enough coverage. So I toughed out a month... Had been on them for 7 months. So far so good. I am making major strides now but I honestly attribute that to diet and rebuilding my gut. I have heard of folks being on them for as long as five years. So, I think it is a case by case basis. My concern has always been, does it just put the lyme into cyst form... well, I don't know the answer to that... and when I take weekend cyst busters... there is cyst busting going on for sure.
They were a game changer for me... I too have had to pay out of pocket.

I'm on my 3d week of the 1.2M dose of Bicillin LA. So far so good.
I feel pretty good most days and have seen positive improvements (generally speaking.)
The shots seem to get easier every time. (less painful)

1.2M dose in each cheek one time a week. So (2.4 Million units a week all at once).
I just started back up again 5 weeks ago. Had done them for about 8 months and took a break bc of intestinal issues and was doing better...
But, symptoms came back.
BCB- watch out for the 4th week... thats when it hit hard for me. HERX'd big time. Just a heads up.
I'm concerned about the cyst form... but, my Dr isn't very literate... So, this is what I am on. And this is all that I am on :/

I did them for 5.5 months 3x weekly. Unfortunately, not much help FOR ME. I do read where others feel improvement.
Following my last shot, I had horrific pain at the injection site, horrific. Ended up in the ER, 5 days in hospital due to near renal failure, dx of rhabdomyolysis/myositis. Close call.
This is rare side effect if you read about the drug; but, obviously (me!) it does happen, fyi (keep in mind my LLMD had never seen this happen).
But who's to say? If you dig/read enough, myositis is a risk/side effect of the drug; but, also, it is said that it can be yet another manifestation/result of Lyme disease...sigh. TS

I did two shots a week for three months. My doctor took me off of them because they caused severe flares.
The only way my insurance would cover them was if it was done in a doctor's office. Because I live in a state where it is falsely believed that Lyme does not exist, the only doctor who would do this was a thirty mile drive one way.
So for me, the drive to get the shots was more a pain in the bootie than getting the shots!

I tried them at a half dose once a week but that caused such a severe flare up that I had to stop after a few weeks.
My doc said they are as strong as IV and he has seen better results with them than IV.
I am very med sensitive anyway and will probably need to work up to being able to tolerate these.

Nonna these have helped me a lot. I would advise a cyst buster under a LLMD's care if you can paired with these. I take a cyst buster two days out the week- I take Tindemax. I go to the infrared sauna and that is how I detox daily. It has been huge for me too.

nonna, I'll try to help answer your questions.
As far as I know, supplies should be good everywhere for the Bicillin LA. If your favorite pharmacy can't get it for you, shop around until you can find it.
Was it the antibiotic that helped to push me over the hump? In my case, it was the antibiotic that helped keep me from sliding over the edge and off the cliff into relapse. I needed IV antibiotics and had been stubbornly refusing them. I also needed to go on medical leave from work and mentally was not ready to let go. So Bicillin LA helped hold me for about 9mo.
You will still need a cyst buster while on Bicillin LA. Common ones are Flagyl, Tindamax, Plaquenil, or GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract). Some people pulse these only a few days per week or a few days per month. Some take them every day.
I did not get numbness from the Bicillin shots. Is that what you meant from the question?
Also, I did not need to detox more. Continue your regular detox. For me, drinking plenty of water helps. Eating healthy diet. Make sure that you have regular BMs. Glutathione, NAC, ALA, milk thistle are also my main staples.
With the Bicillin shots, make sure that whoever gives you the shot rotates your site. If it is given in your right upper butt area (dorsogluteal), next shot should be given in left upper butt area, next in right upper hip area (ventrogluteal), next left upper hip area, repeat...
Before the shots I liked to use Ice to numb the area. After the shot, walk around for a couple minutes. Your body's reaction will be to tense up. This will help it relax and absorb the medicine. Then apply a warm compress and massage the site. This will help prevent lumps by helping it further absorb the medicine.
Bicillin LA is a depot shot. It is slowly absorbed over the next few days. So you can take your probiotics and magnesium whenever you would like. Follow the schedule that works with your oral antibiotics.
Take care and good luck with the Bicillin

I have been on bicilin for 4 weeks exactly (2.4MU per week). I am also taking Dr. Z's Allicin and HH-2. I am also doing infrared sauna to get my body temprature to 101, the target is 102 or 103, so more killing can be done.
Did it help? I think so. Much of my symptoms are resolved now (swollen knee, spine pain, finger pains, heart skipping, and wave of sensation) except for the most stubborn symptoms in my head. My head hurts on the inside (white spots in MRI), and all over my scalp. Ear fullness and tinnitus. Unless I can get rid of these symptoms, my lyme will come back after i stop abx. It has been proven last time.
I just started GSE (1000 mg) tonight. Then I am going to get into the sauna, blasts those suckers.

10 weeks on bicillin so far, along with biaxin and plaquenil, starting a cyst-buster soon. Was treated for parasites too. This month my 28 day flare was noticeably easier. And I am feeling better in other ways too. So I would say these are working for me! It's intimidating at first getting the shots (a family member can do it) but now it's routine.
