Sorry for back to back post but I think this one would be good to have in the archives.

I have been on Flagyl for about 2 months now. I am not much of a drinker so I had no issues staying away from the alcohol while on Flagyl.

The other night I stopped at Wholefood and saw a drink that had a lot of nutrients and some folks had recommended it. I drank a few sits of it (like 3 shot glasses). It was pretty good but as I read the label it said that it may contain traces of alcohol due to the fermentation of the drink. I stopped right away.

A few hours later that night I felt what I am describing as a heart skip. The next day, I felt the skip several times again. (getting check by a cardio and everything seems ok so far)

Anyway, I recall having similar skips during the Christmas break. I had taken a week off the flagyl so I can enjoy a beer with my family. I am not sure if it was related by if I recall correctly, I felt similar skip back then. I did not think it was the flagyl as I had stopped it a few days before I took the alcohol.

Anyway, the only think that comes up regarding Flagyl and Alcohol is that you can get really nauseous but I am wondering if anyone on flagyl experienced similar things. Maybe it is a herx after all since they seem to come about 4 weeks apart

I think the flagyl can stay in your system awhile, so over Christmas, you may have had it reacting with the beer.

I never had any trouble with flagyl and my heart, but I don't go anywhere near alcohol.

You would think the nausea would be the first thing to show up!

I think it stays in the body 48 hrs, at least that's what I remember. I would imagine the heart palps might be from dehydration from the alcohol more than the flagyl. Then again if your liver is bad like mine, it could take considerably longer to clear it out. Use care.
