I haven't been around these parts in a while since I've been doing very well and in remission for almost two years now. I am nursing my third baby, currently, and wound up with a mastitis infection.

I was prescribed Clindamycin since I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa. Two days into taking it, I'm tingling all over and have a ton of fatigue and brain fog.

Tingling was one of my main Lyme symptoms.

I have a call in to my Doctor, but wanted to see if anyone had anything similar happen. I'm wondering if this is a reaction to the medication or if it stirred something up.

I would be suspicious. My first clue that I had lyme, although it wasn't clear at the time...only in retrospect, was when a dentist gave me zithromax in conjunction with a root canal. It set off a major wave of tingling and numbness. Took me a year to connect the dots.

They say clindamycin is not a lyme drug, but it was good for me. But then, we don't always know what we are treating.

Wondering if you were treating during pregnancy. Probably not.

I did treat during pregnancy. Even though I had no symptoms, I made the choice to be safe.

Doc has told me to stop the Clinda since the tingling can be one of the adverse reactions to the drug.

We try Keflex next, so we'll see how that goes. I made great strides on Ceftin with Lyme and they're related, so I'm wondering what will happen on this one.

Thanks for the input.

Clindamycin is a great drug, and can be used to treat lyme and/or babesia.

I never had the tingling with Clindy, but that was not one of my symptoms.

Oral clindamycin can be hard on the gut for some.

Clindamycin is quite often used for babesia and some take it for Lyme.

Be SURE you are taking plenty of probiotics and watching your diet.

I'm on a 10-day course of oral Clindamycin right now. I'm on my 2nd day. All hell is breaking loose. I'm an absolute nervous wreck even though my blood pressure/pulse aren't crazy high. I'm internally trembling, nauseated, and my head is squeezing. It can be very hard to handle. There is nothing I hate more than feeling like a nervous wreck constantly. [Frown]

I also have a bit of tingling in different areas. Air hunger at times too.

We are all so different! I treated my Lyme symptoms with oral clindamycin for 5 years and did fine. I herxed after one month with severe fatigue and dropped down to 2x/day 150mg.

I am now handling joint and fibro symptoms by taking teasel root tincture drops, 5/day and one 500mg curcumin capsule.

Jen, reading that you're allergic to penicillin and sulfa, I am too - I am also a difficult detoxer, with chemical sensitivity - don't know if you are too - the FIR sauna is really helping reduce chemical sensitivity -

Robin, I'm on a MUCH higher dose of Clindamycin than you're on so that may be why.

OMG - FIVE YEARS STRAIGHT of Clindamycin w/o C-Diff? Your body must be made of titanium. [Smile]
