I'm starting babesia treatment, Malarone + Azith + Art (5 days on, 5 off).

Wondering how much the Malarone is going to put me back.

Also, any babesia treatment recs, other than detoxing and taking the meds with fatty food?

I went to Walgreens and they have a drug prescription card that is $20/year and I know it includes azith and doxy etc... Pretty sure it doesn't include malarone, but anyways, it could help with other meds?

My malarone was $66 after insurance and I don't have very good insurance, so I would guess it's in the 1-200 range?

Here's the link to the Walgreens savings plan. Just type in the medication and your zipcode and it tells you the price.

ralphi,

Call around, different pharmacies charge different prices for the same drug. The Kroger in my town will price match Sam's Club RX prices.

I got malarone at canadadrugs.com also, best price I could find-- was not cheap though. I was amazed when my December 2011 script was basically free, due to a bonus they were giving out at the time. I was on that med for 4 months, along with clarithromycin that whole time. Followed that with coartem, also from that pharmacy.

Check local compounding pharmacies too. I had to pay OOP for a med recently (not malarone). CVS quoted it at $648 for the month and two compounding pharmacies were $60 for the month.

$600 a month for Malarone for me at WalGreens. The Zith is also $600 a month. That's a combined expense of $1200 a month!!! I thought my husband was going to have an anuerism.

We just found out that his health insurance only allows you to add a new member twice a year, so it will be October before he can add me to his policy.

Zith is the one I got for $60. I don't understand the pricing on that one. At CVS and Rite Aid it was $600+ for a generic. More than one compounding pharmacy charged $60.

Check out Costco. Their generic for Malarone was the cheapest I found. It was about 27.00 for 5 pills. I pulse it, so I only bought 5 at a time.

Costco was cheaper than Walmart.

Does anyone know of a good online pharmacy that carries generic Malarone, and will dispense without a prescription.

I'm in Montreal and I'm desperate to treat my babesia duncani. We don't have the option of LLMD's in Canada, and I couldn't afford the drug through this route anyways.

Travelpharm and similar online pharmacies in the UK offer generic Malarone to travelers and supply prescriptions. However this would require me getting prescriptions for 6 people to be travelling for several months. Then I'd have to have the drugs shipped to someone in Europe, yet I don't know anyone on that side of the pond. Very complicated.

I'd appreciate any suggestions for a source. This bug has been messing with me unobstructed for too long.

Thanks.

Hi ralphie:

We have the drug card for our daughter from Wallgreens and that helps but for Malarone we obtained a coupon (I think drugs.com but do a google search for prescription coupons) which brings the monthly cost down to $180 range.

Our insurer wouldn't cover it even with a positive B.Duncani test from Quest.

I won't be back till Wednesday and I'll provide a link if you want to wait till then.

Here is the link>

I was surprised but Wallgreens accepted the coupon. We used coupons for Malarone and Doryx. Note I printed off 2 coupons as we needed 60 tablets not 30.

I have an app on my phone called GoodRx that tells you the prices of meds at different local pharmacies.

Hopefully, it is accurate.

My doc said goodrx is accurate for his patients that use it. I haven't had any luck with it, perhaps I need to try the coupon at Walgreens.
