Daughter has been taking 1/2 drop of Samento once a day since April 2nd.
Since Monday she has been feeling worse than her usual ill feelings.
Her LLND does not feel the Samento has anything to do with her symptoms. URGH!! I called and left a message with the office and told them her symptoms and when she started the Samento and how much she was taking.
I left a message asking if we should get some parsley for detox and when the office called back nothing was mentioned about the parsley as the Dr. felt that it was highly unlikely that the Samento would cause her symptoms.
She has headaches, dizziness, lightheaded, nausea, muscle pains, vision issues, loose stools, stomach pains etc, etc.
I am just so frustrated. Daughter does not tolerate many treatments etc and I am not sure if this is a negative reaction or a herx etc.
I was hoping for some guidance from the Dr. He is always very good at appts, but a am very disappointed with the lack of help.
I guess I am asking if anyone herxed on 1/2 drop of Samento and how soon did the herx start?
Thanks for allowing me to vent!!

i cant take samento cuz i am on a reflux drug omneprazole
buhner says in his book if you take that type of reflux drug you cannot take the samento. i tried b4 i knew and everytime ended up in bed for 3 days - i felt so bad i cant even descrive it.
if she is not on reflux drug i guess it could be herxx...i have heard of others having a hard time with samento

I can't say for sure what your daughter is experiencing. I can say that Samento is a powerful herb, and that people can herx on it.
How old is your daughter? Is she taking any other herbal medications with it, or prescription antibiotics?
When I was taking Samento in my early treatment (2005), it did cause herxing! I found it very helpful to take Burbur (Nutramedix) for detox. I think some people are now using Parsley for detox.
How long has your LLND been using these herbs, and how many Lyme patients has he treated? Just asking.
Best wishes.

I don't know Jane.
In my feverish attempt to get to the bottom of my sons situation, I did a lot of crazy things.
I can tell you that the head of Nutramedix said you could drink a whole bottle of Enula and be okay, so I did. I was.
I also through in a bottle of Samento because it all came in one shipment that may have been tampered with. So, I drank the whole bottle of Samento in one sitting...nothin'.
Went down better then the GSE.
Does that mean it's not the culprit. Maybe not, as I am an ex Lymie and Bart patient and possibly cured with no reaction, or maybe it reacts differently with you guys as perhaps the GSE did with my son.
But, I tell you this because my dose was acutely larger and it did not cause a shred of anything. So, it helped me not to be as afraid of it, or give it bigger credit then maybe it deserved.
Hugs and Hope you find your answers-

My daughter had a massive herx with Samento.. She developed severe muscle pain and it took two weeks for the pain to completely subside even after she stopped taking it. Burbur is great for detox and helps alleviate the herx reaction.

Everybody is different, but I have taken as much as 60 drops of Samento in a dose as well as 60 drops of Banderol. I did herx at the higher doses, which I gradually worked up to.
I highly recommend NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) for detox, Dosage: 600 mg up to 3,000 mg. It is a proven liver detoxifier, biofilm buster, and glutathione precursor.

chlorella in higher doses, with bear garlic tincture, that is what dr. K usually recommends for herxes...
My daughter and I were high consumers of these two plants above and they helped immensely.
Samento did less to me than whole cats claw, but I herxed on both in small quantities, and so did my daughter.
