It's a yeast, so it may populate with good yeast instead of Candida. I don't know that is the case though, just guessing

My understanding is that it is a yeast that eats the yeast. Don't know if that is true.

I'm off antibiotics, but still on herbals. I was able to go from VSL3 back to Theralac, but still need to keep the Saccharomyces Boulardi. Your body will let you know within a day or two if you go off and you shouldn't have.

I'm not able to treat with abx at the moment but have a yeast issue and my LLMD said to take the S. Boulardi to crowd out the bad yeast with the good.
That being said though, I developed a lactobacillus acidophilus overgrowth taking probiotics while not on abx.

If you do decide to take s.boulardii take the Florastor Kids
as Dr K says the regular Florastor has an evil additive

Lymetoo, no question is a dumb question!! Hopefully, that was tongue in cheek.
I can only see that it would help. Now brand is good, too.
Another thing that helps enormously (besides the usual, Nystatin, Diflucan, probiotics), is ThreeLac. It, also, is good lactic acid yeast that eats up the Candida. It's remarkably effective. Not cheap, but it works.
VSL#3 DS (double strength, which is an rx) is also good. If you have rx coverage, that makes it not expensive.
Candida is awful! Diet, of course, is key, but it doesn't have to be the stringent "Candida Diet," which starves people!

TuTu, my two cents,,,if you've always had trouble ,But didn't take much of it, maybe that was a piece of puzzle..
I've never heard Florastor having a evil additive.. Will look it up..It's used all over Europe and Easter Europe /
I have the refrigerated kind and none/room temp. around.....
I'd at least keep it up for a while..
Which by the way <I was recently told to try opening a capsule and using one of those one time only enemas together,

Wear that crown proudly Lymetoo! I couldn't take the s. boullardi because the one I had had rice flour in it. I can't take ANY starch whatsoever.
I think you will know once you take it. It's worth a shot (it could be the missing element). I have found upping and rotating my probiotics (2 or 3 different kinds) during the day helps. Compounded nystatin really helps me too.
I ran into a previous lyme specialist I used to see the other day, and she thinks that there is something else going on with me like an undiscovered parasite. I think she's right. I also think there is a heavy metal element to my yeast issue as well, so I'm chelating right now to get my metals down.

How the heck did you find out you had a "lactobacillus acidophilus overgrowth"? And what symptoms did that cause?
I didn't think that was possible, but I suppose anything can get out of balance.

Metametrix testing. Look up symptoms of D-lactic acidosis.
I didn't think it was possible either. I also found an article that said SIBO, or small intestine bacterial overgrowth, can cause damage to villi just as Celiac disease can.
Recommendation from Metametrix was to take D-lactate free probiotics.

We use Thorne brand Sacro B. It is a yeast that cannot grow in your intestines, but makes the environment inhospitable to candida.
It's one of the elements we use in our arsenal against fungal overgrowth.
