My anxiety has been out of control lately.

I am treating lyme, bart and babs.

I am not sure whether to attribute it to Rifampin or what?

I am having a hard time staying asleep more than a couple hours and I wake up super anxious and can only go back to sleep if I take a little xanax.

To get through the day I have to take Xanax XR. Yes, I have tried a ton of different natural things and I do take some natural things, but they do not seem to help much.

I had my first 2 good days since treatment last week and this week has been HORRIBLE. I am not sure if it is a herx or side effect from meds...

I just want to know that it can get better and I won't be stuck like this the rest of my life.

I'm trying to plan my wedding for September and I get so sad thinking that I'm going to feel so horrible that day and be focused on how horrible I feel. I am just so depressed and sick of it all. What's the point?

I was having the same thing on Rifampin. I could not control myself but it only lasted 2 days thank goodness.

I was literally over the top anxious and had to go running even though I felt physically terrible. I ran like 10 miles one day and I still couldn't calm myself down. I had to use benadryl to try to go to sleep.

I'm having a horrible week too. I wonder if it is Rifampin? I started that about 3 weeks ago but I herxed right away in the 2nd week and now I'm just really tired and weak with lots of numbness and twitching like I was while on Mepron.

i think it's just the natural reaction to all we are going through. rifampin could worsen it although it had more intestinal problems with me. but i've gone months feeling like i was borderline seizure i was so anxious and days without sleep. literally rocking back and forth like a mental patient(aren't we all) for days.

eventually it calmed down. i'm sure it will come back again sometime too. just the peaks and valleys i guess.

xanax helps immensely but it also is the cause of a lot of this. i found low dose valium a great alternative with slower processing time in the body than xanax.

I have a lot of anxiety, especially lately as I have gotten so much sicker. I can only sleep a few hours a night, and I find myself fearful of places and situations that I wasn't before. I also am crying A LOT lately and that is very unusual for me.

I was not a severely anxious person before I got sick, so I attribute it to the constant stress of dealing with a devastating illness and trying to work and date and keep up a social life at the same time. It is overwhelming.

All the best to you, Jess

I really hope I'm on the right path.

This is all so hard.

I shouldn't have gotten a bp/hr cuff because now I know that my bp and hr get super high when I'm on my feet. I should have my fiance hide it.

Yeah, I wish I had felt good when I was doing it though! It was pure stress/OCD and it came out of nowhere.

I used to run 10 miles per day but lately I'm lucky to make it to the end of the driveway unless I'm coming off a glutathione/vitamin IV. Today I couldn't even get out of bed to go to the supermarket. I have no food....lol.

I find rifampin unbelievably tough due to this. But I'm sticking it out.

Two things: DETOX, DETOX, DETOX!!! The problem is the die-off.

Plus, rifampin interferes with a ton of meds, and esp anticonvulsants, like neurontin, pain meds, sleep meds, thyroid meds---a lot of them! Get the package insert either from your pharmacy or online and check what meds are listed that rifampin interferes with---some are made less effective, some more effective. So dosages have to be changed, and/or the meds have to be changed.

Talk to your doctor about all this ASAP. Does your dr know that you are needing the xanax so much? I'm not judging, I understand. It's just that it can be horrific to get off xanax and other benzo's. So be careful, and get help with it.
