Just want to spread the word about the surprising benefits I have experienced since I started drinking aloe vera juice.
I intially started drinking it because I want to heal my stomach when I noticed a wrinkle on my face has disappeared! There has also been a dramatic change with my hair.
I can see alot of brand new growth at the hairline. As well, when I run my fingers through my hair it is WAY thicker.

Love using it, even though it tastes awful. I fell off the wagon, thanks for the reminder to get back on!

Thanks for posting this. Been meaning to post the benefits of both the Gel and Juice. I think the Gel might be more soothing for inflammation and help in healing thos with gastroopresis.
I had forgoten about the fantastic healing properties of this plant. I once healed 3rd degree burns on my fingers with it, and have absolutely no scarring left.

Be forewarned...those with gastrointestinal inflammation or methylation defects should proceed with caution with aloe vera. Make sure to get the filtered type because otherwise the sulfur compounds in the aloe will cause trouble...

Why not grow the plant (if able)? Then pick off a stalk and apply the clear gel to your skin (we DO absorb things thru our skin).Your skin may feel a little sticky for awhile.
Yea...lots of good stuff in aloe!
Aloe vera is a rich source of over
two hundred
naturally-occurring nutritional substances.
The Aloe barbadensis plant (more commonly called Aloe vera) is a virtual gold mine of phytonutrients.
I have 2 aloe plants on the side of my house. Mine produce a pretty purple flower.
I have them because we live in Florida and they are GREAT for sunburns! It WORKS.
Taken in large amounts (orally) may be toxic!!
The nectar from Aloe flowers is a favorite food for hummingbirds!
Aloe Vera Flower Meaning: Grief. The name was derived from the Arabic alloeh meaning 'bitter' because of the bitter liquid found in the leaves.
It is also known as 'lily of the desert', the 'plant of immortality', and the 'medicine plant'.
Aloe vera leaves contain phytochemicals under study for possible bioactivity, such as acetylated ***mannans***, polymannans, anthraquinone C-glycosides, anthrones and ***anthraquinones***, and various ***lectins***
Hold the phonelectinsmannans?!!!
Mannan is a plant polysaccharide that is a polymer of the sugar mannose.
Detection of mannan leads to lysis in the mannan-binding lectin pathway.
It is generally found in yeast, bacteria and plants.
Oopsthat is P8mannose binding lectin INHIBITOR...the one protein (besides SALP15) that Bb's OspC picks up in the tick saliva...which maybe a protein WE have too.
But that said, do we not give Ritalin (stimulant) for hyperactive kids?
A large industrial application of anthraquinones is for the production of hydrogen peroxide.
***Derivatives of***
9,10-anthraquinone include many important drugs (collectively called anthracenediones). They include
Laxatives such as dantron, emodin, and aloe emodin, and some of the senna glycosides
 Antimalarials such as rufigallol
Antineoplastics used in the treatment of cancer, such as mitoxantrone, pixantrone, and the anthracyclines
There is preliminary evidence that A. vera extracts may be useful in the treatment of diabetes and elevated blood lipids in humans.
These positive effects are thought to be due to the presence of compounds such as mannans, anthraquinones and lectins
Internal intake of aloe vera has been linked in preliminary research with improved blood glucose levels in diabetics, although it has been suggested by the NTP that aloe may lower blood glucose levels.
It has also been linked with lower blood lipids in hyperlipidaemic patients, but also with acute hepatitis (liver disease).
In other diseases, preliminary studies have suggested oral aloe vera gel may reduce symptoms and inflammation in patients with ulcerative colitis.
Abdominal cramps and diarrhea have been reported with oral use of aloe vera. Diarrhea, caused by the laxative effect of oral aloe vera, can decrease the absorption of many drugs.
Compounds extracted from aloe vera have been used as an immunostimulant that aids in fighting cancers in cats and dogs; however, this treatment has not been scientifically tested in humams.

My mom has aloe vera plants. Maybe I'll get one from her and put the gel on my face at night for these darn lyme wrinkles.
I have the juice and it does take awhile to get used to the bitter taste. I need to start drinking it again to help my gut. Thanks for the reminder!
Plus, I'm losing hair. Back to drinking the juice for me!

I buy my Pomegranite juice at Whole foods or Super Fresh. The brand of Aloe Juice/Gel I buy is Lillie of The Desert.
It is a powerful anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic. Google Aloe Vera juice health benefits.

I buy my aloe vera juice at Trader Joe's. It's called Aloe Botanicals. Gael, I knew it helped my digestion but I didn't realize all of the other benefits - even anti-parasitic:) It's great when there's something natural that has such power toward helping us. These abx have so many side effects:(

Razzle, thank you for telling us about the sulfur compounds (MTHFR).
Marnie, does this mean it can cause yeast: "Mannan is a plant polysaccharide that is a polymer of the sugar mannose.
Detection of mannan leads to lysis in the mannan-binding lectin pathway.
It is generally found in yeast, bacteria and plants."
