My LLMD found that I was slightly anemic. We didn't get around to whether the anemia should be treated or not.

But I look really pale.

I have been taking Ceftin among other things which can sometimes cause anemia.

Has anyone had to quit taking antibiotics because they caused anemia?

Thanks

Yes, antibiotics can mess with your blood counts. My LLMD has been watching my CBC for months. It dropped when I started Rocephin. Be careful about supplementing with iron as iron feeds Bb.

I used to take huge doses of iron from my PCP prior to Lyme dx. It likely helped the Lyme more than it helped my anemia.

Thanks. I didn't know that iron feeds Lyme.

I wonder if Procrit would be better.

The doc didn't suggest anything at this point.

Has your iron level improved?
