I was taking 650mg of Curcumin 2-3 times a day. Swanson's has NOW brand. Good quality and good price.
I don't know about the BBB.

Lee Silsby has a wonderful curcumin product called Enhanasa. There is info on their website. I'm not sure what caused my health improvement in January but I had started Enhansa prior. My son, sister and nephew are now taking it also. It has so many benefits. I asked my doctor to try it after I heard Dr. H. speak of it at the ILADS conference last fall. My doc said sure.
I am fortunate that my insurance covers compounded pharmacy items with my normal copay.

I just started curcumin last night and I could not believe how it helped my head. I could tell all kinds of things were happening. I am using Meriva 500g and I am going to take it 3 times a day now.
It may have helped to tone down my tinnitus today. But the aural fullness is really bad today with sound distortions. Maybe because the fluids are moving around out of the area they have been trapped in for so long...

OmegaBrite, 3 capsules per day with something fatty. (You have to do the same with Mepron, right?)
Child's doses are available.
Sorry, it is not cheap, but is very effective.
Must order OmegaBrite via the internet/phone.
When your dogs have lyme/RA.."Missing Link" is sprinkled on their food. They love it and respond to it immediately.
Find out what "Missing Link" contains!
Getting inflammation down is very important.
Ideally...berberine (anti-inflammatory +), but check with your doc first.
Zyflamed isn't strong enough, IMO.

That is great, manybites! I learned about curcumin from a Lyme Webinar with a LLMD from WA. His website has lots of good information as well.
"The accumulation of amyloid-beta peptide (Abeta) derived from amyloid precursor protein (APP) is a triggering event leading to the pathological cascade of Alzheimer's disease (AD);
therefore the inhibition of Abeta production should be a rational therapeutic strategy in the prevention
and treatment of AD.
Here, we report that berberine reduces Abeta levels by modulating APP processing in human neuroglioma H4 cells stably expressing Swedish-type of APP at the range of berberine concentration
without cellular toxicity.
Our results indicate that berberine would be a promising candidate for the treatment of AD.

Great responses thanks. I also was told about something called Ecklonia cava/Fibroboost today which looks interesting....downregulates cytokines, which is what we need.
Anyone tried?
And what about resveratrol? Studies look really good but it seems that high doses are needed. This stuff sends me right to the bathroom,
I want to pick at the most three that will really work. I'm thinking fish oil, curcumin, and possibly the Fibroboost.

I have used Ecklonia Kava - Fibroboost in the past and it is another supplement that is recommended on treatlyme.net - I think it helped somewhat but it was not worth the price to me at the time. I may go back to using again to see if it helps after seeing it so highly recommended.
I herxed bad from the resveratrol so stopped taking. It has helped many though.
hitbysurprise, the curcumin helps get rid of the cytokines and is anti-inflammatory. I have never read that it is anti-protozoan or anti-malarial.

Does anyone know if it is better to take curcumin with a meal (with fat for absorption) or better to take on an empty stomach?
Also, I don't know how far to take this from ABX. I have been trying to space it at least 2 hours away. Wondering if it might actually help the efficacy of the ABX if taken near...

I always test for taking curcumin and its products on an empty stomach. I wouldn't expect much interplay between that and abx.

Marnie, doesn't berberine interfere with some meds? I think it does.
Looks like curcumin must be taken in high doses for effect. I have the Enhansa stuff at 600mg, will try that a couple of times a day.

I would also recommended the curcumin. But not plain curcumin, it should be in some sort of liposomal format to aid with absorption. Some good brands are Enhansa or Longvita, although they can get expensive. I'm currently using Thorne Meriva-SR, which is well-absorbed and cheaper than the other two.
Quercetin is another anti-inflammatory that down-regulates cytokines. I use Thorne Quercetone.
Ecklonia Cava is supposed to work well. I have FibroBoost but haven't tried it yet.
Stephen Buhner now recommends Chinese Skullcap for inflammation/cytokines.
I would also recommend systemic enzymes like Lumbrokinase, Wobenzyme, etc.
I was recently advised by my doctor that Low Dose Naltrexone also reduces brain inflammation

I'm trying to remember where I read that curcumin helps with inflammation but it is not a true anti-inflammatory.
Maybe one of you has info on this aspect. I May be off the wall here. I'll try to remember where I recently saw a discussion on this.

DMC - can you tell me your thoughts on the neuro-antitox? Did it help you with brain fog? In what way did it help?

Also interested in the neuro-antitox question. Even 1 drop after the alochol was evaporated off made me more tired.

Metagenics, Inflavanoid Intensive Care with tumeric, boswellia, quercetin, ginger and cayenne is great for inflammation.
Flex Now is a product I've been using for about a month with amazing results. There are clinical trials documenting it's ability to reduce cytokines, inflammation and C-reactive protein.
It is not specifically for the brain, but it reduces inflammation throughout. It dropped my blood pressure by 30 points and cleared up a friend's back problem who hadn't played golf in a year!

annxyzz - I would recommend Oregon Grape root extract for berberine. I used Herb Pharm brand (www.herb-pharm.com)
I've tried Jernigan's Neuro Antitox II without much success. Would love to hear from someone who says they had it work for them.
I've used boswellia before with success (Standard Process/Mediherb)
I'm also on FlexNow at the moment, although it's hard to tell what's working because I am on a lot of supplements.

Should Wobenzym be enteric coated?
Was going to order and not sure if I should pay more to get it that way.
