I have had zero energy lately. My pcp just checked it and it's really low. Does anyone else have this?

The liver uses carnitine to make glutathione.
I noticed that I feel better when I take it daily.

I use this one:
Source Naturals, Acetyl L-Carnitine & Alpha Lipoic Acid
http://www.iherb.com/Source-Naturals-Acetyl-L-Carnitine-Alpha-Lipoic-Acid-650-mg-60-Tablets/1013

Alpha lipoic acid is also for liver support.
Whenever I take it by itself I get a stomachache, but I feel okay when I take it in that combination.

Do you take CoEnzyme Q10?
I didn't think it was doing much, but when I ran out, the fatigue increased.

Thanks Carol! How much Acetyl L-Carnitine with ALA do you take a day?

I wonder if this is why my T3 is off. My copper is low too.

I can't take co Q10 anymore (on malarone). It did give me energy though when I was on it.

Yea, you need adequate copper and iron for thyroid function too.

I have read that some folks suspect that a copper deficiency is related to hyperthyroidism.

I take L-carnitine to alleviate the effects of thyroxin on the liver and heart. (It fills/blocks "receptors" for the thyroxin.) I am likely not taking enough though at 250 mg/d.

Funny you mention CoQ10! I was taking it religiously until I just couldn't make my UE check stretch far enough to cover it. My fatique first became noticeable within about a month of quitting CoQ, now that I think about it! Hadn't made the correlation!

Thanks Lyme and Aunty! I heard somewhere (think it was Dr. Oz) that we don't need iron any more after 50, so I haven't been getting it (my iron and zinc are low too though). But then there's lyme...I guess I will supplement for this and copper too.

This explains it (just googled it). I guess I need all of these: zinc, copper, iron, ALC/ALA.

Who knew (chocolate has copper in it)? I quit chocolate when I got yeast a year ago (it's been tough).

Geeze. Clueless is my middle name. I've been detoxing heavy metals (Doh!).

I am surprised (link above) that vit C reduces bioavailibility of zinc and copper (I take a lot of vitamin C).

Also this (diet affects it too): http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3279098?dopt=Abstract

Doctor's Best, High Absorption CoQ10 with BioPerine USP/JP, 100 mg, 120 Veggie Caps
http://www.iherb.com/Doctor-s-Best-High-Absorption-CoQ10-with-BioPerine-USP-JP-100-mg-120-Veggie-Caps/15658

That's the CoQ10 I've been using...great price.
I take it when I take fish oil, as it needs fats to be absorbed.
