Does anyone know what would/could trigger a pretty sudden drop in WBC.
Was 8.3 and in 2 weeks went down to 4.3. Only thing that changed was stopping Art and Mepron due to high liver e.'s.
I was on Diflucan for a week (yuck!) when I got the blood work and wondering if that could cause a drop as I have a pretty significant yeast issue.
Been off abx.s for a couple of months and been feeling fine in terms of lyme, but concernred about the 50% drop in my white cell count. I HOPE that is not a sign that lyme is sneaking back in.
This stuff drives me crazy - waiting to hear from my LLMD but wondering if anyone has any thoughts????....Thanks DW

Well, you actually need to look at all of your WBC. Two in a row doesn't mean much. For example, mine are normally in the 4s. They have spiked up to 10 (not normal for me and likely indicating infection) and they have dropped to the low 3s (also not normal for me and likely indicating infection).
So, is normal for you normally in the 8s or in the 4s? Both numbers are within the reference range for WBC so it may not be an issue...but if you are normally in the 4s and jump up to an 8 and have symptoms that match problems, then you could be having an infection of some kind.
Dropping to a 4 doesn't indicate infection necessarily (I am not a doctor or a lab tech...this is just based on all my lab data).
You have to look at the whole picture over time, not 2 lab values.
Best, Timaca

Erlichia can lower WBC and elevate liver enzymes.
