I know that it is taken with Mepron and I am assuming has some action against babs, but does it also hit Bart or Lyme. At all?

Zith hits:
-Lyme. Oral Zith isn't very good. IV Zith is VERY good.
-Bartonella. Best if combined with another intra-cellular drug like Doxy or Rifampin
-Babesia if combined with Mepron or Malarone.
Biaxin is a good alternative that is better for lyme when taken orally vs Zith.

My take is it hits Lyme, and helps Mepron from having Babs build up a resistance.
My second LLNP has had me on Zith continually since starting treatment with her in March 2011.
First Zith and Omnicef
Then Zith Omnicef and Mepron
Then Zith Suprex and Mepron
Then back to Zith Omnicef and Mepron
Then to Zith, Augmentin and Mepron
Then to Zith and Rifampin
Then Zith, Rifampin and Doxy
Then 3 weeks off with high Liver enzymes
Then IV Rocephin for a week then added Zith too
Then added Rifampin back in
Then changed out Rifampin and back to Mepron when spontaneous bruise marks returned.
on and on and on but Zith magenta colored pills have been a staple on my home pharmacy counter
Did this help?
I agree that Biaxin is a stronger oral and my first LLMD we all know had me on Biaxin/Plaquinel and changed to Tetra in the winter. Zith is in the same family wit Biaxin but easier on the gut.

I have to agree with bcb1200, I found oral Azith completely ineffective against my Lyme, but I am 90-95% or better after just over 1 year continual IV azith. I also read that IV azith is thought to kill the spirochete form without converting it to cyst, other forms, etc...
