This happens to me randibear for years. Not sure if it's lyme related, but when I was rebitten a year ago, that eye that did not tear much was then even drier (couldn't pop out a hard contact lens on that eye) and eyelid drooped.

When I went to a non-lyme literate opthalmologist, he said it was due to dryness--that was why my other eye watered in excess.

He attributed it to getting old, but funny thing--both of my eyes are the same age.

He pooh-poohed lyme.

He actually insulted me because as he walked out the door of examining room, he said in a loud voice for all to hear "what do you expect--you're xx years old!!!

I wrote him a "nice" letter.

That happens to me, too. One eye will be fine and the other will seemingly projectile water. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it is very strange! Haha

Autonomic system maybe?? I am just as confused.

Marz, I laughed when I read "He attributed it to getting old, but funny thing--both of my eyes are the same age."

And good for you for writing that "nice" letter. We all need to write those!

Anyway, I have the same problem, but with both eyes and I too have been told it's b/c of dry eyes.

I was put on various eye drops to help the problem. They've helped a little. A part of me wants to just squirt some olive oil into my eyes. Doesn't that sound so good and soothing??

If only one eye tears like that, it might be because the duct that drains it is blocked.

When my son was a baby, one of his eyes watered like that.
The pediatrician told me to gently massage the inner corner of his eye several times per day.

I didn't know about blocked tear ducts at that point, and I said to her,
"Does that do anything, or is it just to make the mother feel better?"

Well, the joke was on me, because it worked!

I have that problem now that meds not working as well and having a touch of bells palsy on the same side. Looked up bells palsy and that was one of the associated symptoms, because of the nerve damage on that side.

So, look at your face in the mirror and see if one side of mouth droops down a bit.

Are you using eye drops? Tearing of the eye is a sign of dryness.

Exactly what Tutu said. My eye doctor told me that too when I told her about my left eye that liked to run.

It used to be daily and of course that sx disappeared for a long time and then last week I noticed my left eye running again.

I've also noticed vision changes in the last week, so I've got something going on. I'm a dry eye patient and lost my ability to wear contacts or continue to use meds for eyes.

Cutting meds out is more important.

I had that early on in my disease when I had encephalopathy from lyme. We would tell this to the doctors and they would look at us like we were crazy.

For me, all the oral abx didn't work so I had to do IV Rocephin to rid myself of the encephalopathy. Once I did that, the eye watering stopped. I think the eye watering was due to the nerve inflammation in my brain.

So sorry you're dealing with that. My caring thoughts go out to you today.

Try eye ointment at bedtime. Worked wonders for me. I can't do without it.
