I've had countless X-rays, CT's etc before I was diagnosed and have had this symptom for a long time. It's like you can't get a full breath to save your life! It ends up making me anxious and it coincides right now with my non-stop herxing-unending increased pain and fatigue and in bed...

any thoughts? Just treating Lyme right now.

Tailfeathers, have you tested for Bartonella or Babesia? They are similar to malaria in that they live in the red cell and use up your iron. You become winded because there isn't enough iron to bind oxygen to take to the tissues. Another could be a parasite called protomyxoa rheumatica formerly know as fl 1953.

Be sure to avoid acetaminophen (even in not "asthma" as it affects the lungs adversely in many ways):

Studies Suggest an Acetaminophen-Asthma Link

Excerpt:

. . . Even a single dose of acetaminophen can reduce the bodys levels of glutathione, a peptide that helps repair oxidative damage that can drive inflammation in the airways, researchers have found. . . .

tailfeathers,

I had SEVERE rush me to the hospital asthma and difficuly breathiing (not being able to take in a breath) for 40yrs. It is completely gone after I treated parasites.

Lung worms are a common problem with Lyme and can be causing your symptoms. Google parasite symptoms and check out the PARASITE WARRIOR SUPPORT THREAD

In addition to other excellent replies -- basic self care details:

Avoid VELOUR, CORDUROY in your clothes and in all home textiles. This stuff sheds something fierce and winds up in our noses and lungs.

Get rid of anything fuzzy stuff. (I know, that's open for interpretation!).

Avoid scents and chemcials, vinyls, etc.

You might want to change your shower head, too.

Google: Showerhead, bacteria

MAGNESIUM is the ultimate helper along the way, whatever the cause (and while the cause is being addressed). It can really help lessen restriction.

I had breathing difficulties start out of nowhere when I started treating lyme last year. I am hoping my breathing will get back to normal someday...it is my worst symptom.

Thanks all, I tested negative for a babesia FISH test (is that the right name?) and 'borderline' for bartonella though my LLMD says I have strong symptoms of both.

Sorry that it is so difficult for some of you-a lyme friend of mine suggested I use home oxygen but I don't think my GP will be cooperative and haven't discussed that option with my LLMD. She said it helped her tremendously.

Thank you Keebler for your input. Gael, you've been through a lot! I have a history of a lot of overseas travel as well as within the U.S. so I don't doubt that I have parasites and I know my LLMD wants to treat for that... so many things to treat and I can barely survive the present protocol!

@Larae30, I wish you much healing-I'm going to ensure I do some daily deep-breathing just to help get more oxygen into my lungs, though I know of course treating is what ultimately will help us.

Oh and having a stuffed up nose 24/7 doesn't help either! I've never ever experienced these symptoms before I got sick!
