I have adrenal fatigue. Very low cortisol levels I always have this fight or flight response for no reason.
I was going through a lot of stress before my illness. I think stress if what brought on my symptoms- possibly lyme symptoms.
I want to treat this naturally. I am just not sure how. I have an appt with my endo this friday, and I am sure she is probably going to prescribe steroids to suppress my adrenal gland.
Honestly, that's now what I want to do. Is there a way of doing it naturally?
Thanks.

First off, if she prescribes cortef for you, it would be a physiological dose. One to replace what your adrenals should be putting out. Not a suppressing dose. Don't make your mind up until you have spoken with your physician.

I agree with Kgg. don't let the word steroids freak you out. I am on cortef and am doing fine. It is a physiologic dose and is making up for what I don't have, natural "steroid" cortisol. If you don't have any cortisol on board you will croak. It is necessary for daily life. Since lyme is a big endocrine disruptor, many here have to supplement. See your doc and let us know how it goes.

Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) and Vitamin C "feed" the adrenals. Also may need adrenal cortex to rebuild the adrenals if they are too far suppressed.
Suggest consulting a Lyme-Literate Naturopathic or Integrative physician, as most Endo's are clueless about adrenal burnout.

I'm with Razzle, I wouldn't count on an endo unless they are affiliated with ILADS (unlikely), especially since lyme is at the core of adrenal fatigue. Also a LL naturopath or integrative physician or functional medicine doc would probably be your best bet.
Have you read the book, Adrenal Fatigue? It's a good book with some basic advice our grandmas used to tell us, plus some basic vitamins and minerals.

My husband is using the adrenal supplements Dr. James Wilson formulated.
Reading his book, "Adrenal Fatigue" was one of the best things we ever did!
