Im still sorting thru if i fit in this disgnosis as i have not been seen by llmd. Turned down by an id since i "didnt fit the criteria". Positive igm...been sick less than a year.

Anyway..wondering if anyone could give me brief summary of most troubling symptoms.

Mine are heavy head, stiff neck ( first symptom that was bad), red ear and cheek ( we thought it was dental related), stiffened gait, numbness in feet, heart issues. Massive loss of muscle tone. Been to neuro..said my exam was " fine". Oh...and awful facial and dental pain with no known cause.

Thanks!

With this disease, everybody's symptoms are different. Lyme can cause hundreds of symptoms. So, it all depends on whether it attacks you in the joints, the brain, the muscles, gynecologically, or what.

Eventually, it gets to everyones brains, though. Then, the brain won't work so well.

Have you looked at the Burrascano Guidelines? See pages 9-10 for a list of some common lyme symptoms. See how the symptoms are grouped according to bodily system. See pages 26-7 for lyme and coinfection common symptoms.

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

If you had a tick bite and then your trouble started, that is a big indicator of lyme. Stiff neck is a classic lyme symptom, meaning that many, many people have that symptom--probably a majority. I certainly did.

Numbness is a classic lyme symptom also. And, lyme causes heart issues in many. VERY FEW diseases can cause numbness and heart issues, so this combo of symptoms certainly points to lyme.

Then, you say you had a positive IgM. That alone means that you have lyme.

I hope you know that ID doctors don't want to diagnose anyone with lyme. Hope you can get to a lyme doctor and work on getting back to health. It takes somebody who specializes in this complex disease to get people well. ID docs certainly don't specialize in it. They believe it is rare and easily cured--both beliefs are incorrect. So, forget what the ID doc said and work on getting your health back.

Yep, my first symptoms were in my neck and shoulders - they were sore. A year later, my neck was really stiff. I think it's because the cranial nerves are inflamed and they impact the neck and shoulder area.

You have classic Lyme symptoms as well as a positive IgM. So basically, you need to see an LLMD. The ID doc and neuro doc are not Lyme-literate docs. You can ask in Seeking A Doctor for LLMD referrals in your area.

You can read about treatments in the Burrascano guidelines. You can also use the Search function at the top of the page to type in any word or phrase and archives will come up that you can read.

Treatment happens in three categories - kill/deter the organisms, detox, and fortify the body.

We're all different when it comes to which treatments we respond to, so you can take notes on what folks say, but ultimately, it's going to come down to what you respond to.

ivrain,

Could you post your Western Blot lab report?

I bet IgM 23 may be positive. It's usually one of the first Lyme specific bands that tests positive. But the results will still end up as a Negative Test. Like being only a little bit pregnant...

If you don't have a copy of your lab results get it asap to take with you when you see a LLMD.

Sounds like lyme to me too. The terrible facial and tooth pain could be protomyxzoa though. We have mulitple infections causing a wide array of symptoms. Protomyxzoa might be responsible for the muscle wasting, and redness of your skin.

Since you were bitten by a tick and have a positive test, you are obviously infected. I hope you can see a good LLMD soon.

My first symptom was wandering leg pain, and my next symptom was fatigue. Then the allergies and gut problems got bad, and other symptoms came on slowly after that.

My first symptoms were a burning rash that persisted 8 months (because it took them that long to agree my tick bite was connected to my rash) and then, severe pain in my whole body.

It's hard to explain that feeling- it wasn't joint pain specifically, but it was like everything from my bones to my skin burned and hurt. And my whole body was stiffening and locking up.
