Has your husband tested for lyme? Babesia? I would consider re-testing, ruling out autoimmune issues and also screening with at least MDL (for lyme and co) and then maybe go see a hematologist.

They often will be elevated in people who smoke.
If he is on Babesia treatment, that could be the cause. My hgb,hct and mcv would be elevated when treating.
One of my LLMDs would watch those in particular. They would come down after a few months of "successful" treatment.

Thanks for the responses.
Hoops - yes, he does have Lyme and babs. Doc is running more tests (she is not Lyme Literate, just a regular doc). Think we may want to see a hematologist next. Sounds smart to do.
terv - no, I don't think they tested ferritin and tsat. I have to check when I go home. No, we don't live in high altitude.
Pocono - he is a non-smoker. He has been taking herbal things like Olive leaf, Oil of Oregano and GSE and he's been herxing a little. I wonder if that could be hitting Babs. He's not on artemisinin though. My insticts tell me this is babs related. I think we need to get him into a LLMD.
Thanks again.
