I met a woman tonight who said she once got what looked to her like a bullseye rash. I'm not sure what time of day she got it but she said it was gone by noon. I am assuming this is not a lyme rash but would like to know how long they last.

Where does an elephant sit? Anywhere it wants.

How long does a borrelia bulls-eye rash last (when it does appear)? ANY amount of time it "wants" -

- that it appears at all is a wonderful clue, even if it appeared at 11 a.m. and was gone at noon. I'd say even if for five minutes.

If a truck sideswipes you but leaves the scene of the accident in less than 5 seconds, does that count? You bet!

However, "once got" -- with no mention that she is ill now would not be of concern as, sometimes, a body's own immune system can manage it. It may not have been a terrible strain or she may have received some treatment for other symptoms that may have (somehow) also addressed lyme.

Yet, just because a rash disappeared quickly, that has no bearing on how severe lyme (if present) may or may not become - or within what timeline. Borrelia is a stealth infection, that "stealth" ability means all bets are off.

IF she is ill now with symptoms &/or has had a history of such, I'd sure say lyme is possible and she should be assessed by a LLMD.

If there is any chance she can dig up a photo of that rash or make a rough drawing of it, that might be of help. She should NOT look at any photos of lyme rashes before sketching it, though. Best to work from her memory and then look at photos.

Keebler-great response. I noticed a rash on my daughter last summer about 8 am. Went to doctor at 10-she just had a tiny mark!

Luckily, I had taken many photos-pediatrician told me it would have lasted longer and prob not lyme anyway-mmhm. Only reason I went there was because my llmd on vaca. Talked him into week of amox then to llmd when she returned to complete a longer course.

When I was pushing him for antibiotics, my 9 year old said "well my mom has lyme" so she gets scared. LOL!! He said no way I could have lyme, bart and babesia. Just doesn't happen-in New England.

I met someone who had a bull's eye rash, almost a foot wide on his stomach! And he didn't know what it was until he saw us Lyme patients talking about it on the telly. I asked him how long he'd had it and he said 8 months.
