I recently got treated with IV CeFePime for a serious UTI.

I was treated for four days then changed to Meropenem cause one of the bacterias was resistent to CeFePime.

The four days I was on CeFePime were wonderful. All of my symptoms were improving.

I asked my LLMD to put m e on it for a few months to see how I do.

He refuses. Says he's not familiar with it.

It is a fourth generation cephelosporan. Same catergory as rocephin. I dont understand his resistance to try it.

Not sure what to do next.

Very discouraged.

Linda

I guess I would clarify this with the physician. There is a big push in the last few years called Antibiotic Stewardship. The culture has shifted from using antibiotics for everything to a very strict protocol. Perhaps that is influencing his decision?

Your signature line states you are not on antibiotics right now. Is the hesitation that he does not want to do IV therapy?

I know this is discouraging, but really only he can answer this question.
