I was told by my doc that you need to take malarone with azithromycin and artemisinin (sp?).
Has anyone had improvement by taking malarone alone?
I already feel really crappy and don't really want to add Art but i guess i will, i just wanted to know if everybody does it this way?

Malarone has less of a resistance issue than Mepron, because it contains two meds. That said, you may want to add Zith for the extra protection against resistance.
You can add Art when herxing starts to slow down.
Art and other Artemisia derivatives are strong and very effective. I have to admit, I kind of saved them for the end of treatment, cuz resistance can become an issue.
I'm now on Malarone, Zith, Mino, and tons of Art and it's kicking my butt in a very good way.

I would think you'd need at least the zith. I never took all 3 at the same time.

thanks for the responses. My doc wants me on all three but I want to wait til i feel i could better handle it.
Maybe I should talk to the dr. again but the doc seemed to be quite adamant that i should take all three so I was thinking maybe i shouldn't do it at all right now if it is all or nothing.

I was on Malarone most of last year and have been on Mepron for a few months and finally getting some relief from babs symptoms. I wonder why some meds work better than others for certain people?

Everyone's body chemistry is different in how they will respond to a drug. Some people develop a resistance to Mepron if they are on it a long time.
Malarone has two drugs in a tablet and sometimes works better for some. As far as I know there aren't limits in dosing of Malarone as I am on a high dose.
I just got off 15 months of Mepron and have started Malarone. Still have Babs so Mepron didn't take care of it.

I take Malarone (with zithromycin) + Cryptolepsis for babesia. Definite herxes. In fact, this has been the first time ever that I can't take a full dose of something.

I have taken it alone and am doing so right now. Treating yeast and parasites and on a abx. break.
With the onset of some night sweats my llmd added in some malarone.
