There is a good thread recently started on this.

Daughter and I both used it for awhile. It literally relieved some of her "crohn's" (aka LYME)inflammation overnight. Kept adjusting dosage of our emu-based cream and found 1.5mg to be the most helpful for both of us, eventhough I weighed twice as much as she did at that time. For her it worked well in the beginning and it's effects seemed to wear off over time. Eventually we stopped it for some reason.

LDN is a great immune-modulator. It can help turn around low WBC counts and low globulin levels. It helps your immune system.
But there are caveats. For one thing, you have to start low and slow and titrate your dose up. If your doc is not aware of this, you need to let him/her know that. Compounding pharmacies can easily send you 1mg caps and you can work your way up gradually to a therapeutic dose. Some say that is 3mg, some say it's 4.5mg or even higher. Everyone is different.
The other thing you need to be aware of is that LDN can reverse autoimmunity. So if you have Hashimoto's (ie, underactive thyroid) and are taking synthroid, you need to be aware that your thyroid will start functioning better and you will have to continuously monitor your thyroid labs and have your synthroid dose adjusted downward.
Another thing is that you must come off LDN at least a week prior to any surgical procedure. LDN will block any painkiller that will be administered to you post-surg. They could load you up with all the morphine/dilaudid, etc. they have but if you're on even 1mg of LDN, you won't get pain relief. Naltrexone even at low doses blocks the opiate receptor pathway.

Some of this information is incorrect. LDN blocks opiate receptors for a few hours, not constantly all the time. That short block triggers the body to produce massive amounts of endorphins which stimulate the immune system. You don't need to wear a medical bracelet if you are taking LDN. For accurate information buy the book The Promise of Low Dose Naltrexone.
Originally Naltrexone was prescribed in 50mg time released capsules for addiction. That was when it blocked opiate receptors all the time so if an addict tried to get high, the drug did not work. Having their opiate receptors blocked all the time made the addicts feel so horrible most of them refused to take it.
LDN stimulate the productions of 300% more regulatory T-cells to call off auto immune attacks. I have Hashimoto's disease and do not need medication for my thyroid. My son takes it for type one diabetes. It is amazing - a miracle.
It is true it is best to tirate up slowly but not everyone needs to do this. Another fallacy is you have to take it at bedtime. You can take it any time of day but you need to be consistent with that time. I take it in the morning.
If you have trouble with LDN, it is probably bringing out an infection. When I first tried to take it I had horrific urinary irritation which I found out later was protomyxzoa - LDN was stimulating my immune system and causing a herx. Once I began treatment for PR, I had no trouble with LDN. It can also cause a yeast infection to flare.
People are confusing LDN with regular dose naltrexone. They probably read about naltrexone online and drew false conclusios that low dose naltrexone had the same effects. You must be sure when you have LDN compounded that the pharmacy knows how to do it so it is not slow release.
I also go to the dentist for drilling and have no problem with the LDN dose I just took a couple of hours previously.
LDN is in fact, very good for reducing pain because of the endorphins. It is good for depression, autism and even used on people who self mutilate.
It stops the growth of many types of cancer and can be used to prevent cancer. I do not get sick when I am on LDN - if I am exposed to the flu or a cold I may have a brief mild case but never full blown. However if you skip several days you will lose that protection.
The dosage is usually 3 to 4.5 mg but some doctors have given as much as 11 mg. I was taking 3 mg but just recently raised my dose to 4 because I was getting symptoms back of PR. Within two days I could feel a difference.
