I have this itchy skin rash. Started in the sweaty/folds of skin areas....inner thighs, under breasts, under arms, crook of arm, behind knees, neck, back, trunk. I've had it for almost two weeks and was getting worse, so I went to my PCP, as my LLMD is hours away, in another state. My PCP is aware of the Lyme and supportive of my treatment. She prescribed an anti fungal cream, told me to stop exercising as that would cause the rash to worsen and told me to hold my Zithromax for a few days. She thinks that it's yeast. I don't have a white-coated tongue or vaginal itching and I've been on nystatin oral for months, but admit to skipping a day here or a day there of my probiotics.
Any opinions? Could it be yeast? Anyone have this? The rash is EXTREMELY itchy....unbearably so! Any ideas on what to do? How long will it take to clear up?
Thank you!

Likely yeast...
Coconut oil (cold-pressed/raw) can also be applied to the rash, is antifungal.
Haven't had fungal rashes, don't know details on how long it takes to clear, etc.
I assume you're on the Candida diet?

You could use a medicated baby powder that contains zinc as an active ingredient. Zinc will kill bacteria and fungus.

I had this a few years ago! Same places and the more you itched it, it would spread. I tried the coconut oil and ANYTHING I could get my hands on. I was given Diflucan, as we thought maybe I had contracted Valley Fever, a fungal infection in the lungs that one gets from the dirt in Arizona!
It finally went away with Diflucan, and when I moved out of my new condo, the new owners found that pipes had been leaking in the walls/bathroom and had to rip walls out. I wonder now if it was a fungal yeast thing that I was around and it trigger the rash. I worked from home, so was always home with this fungus growing! (in hot AZ mold can grow!)

I am on Diflucan now! Hopefully that will work. Can you get strictly a yeast skin infection, though, without the "typical" yeast symptoms (i.e. white tongue, vaginal itching, etc.)? I have been on antibiotics for a long time...over three years straight now, so it makes some sense that it could be yeast.
And...can you take Diflucan along with Nystatin?
Lymetoo - thanks for the yeast diet threads. I do admit to deviating a tad bit from it.
Again, thanks! Hopefully, I will be rash-free soon!

It can be yeast but a Bartonella rash can be very similar. If the cream makes it get better within days and go away within 2weeks it was probably yeast. If not it my be a Bartonella die of. I gott this signs for several years before getting so sick and when taking antibiotics it always got worse especially from flagyl. Now after 2years of antibiotics it has almost completely disappeared. What worked although it was no yeast was econazol in a form of a shower gel which stays on the skin. Econazol is a "relative" of difflucan. Difflucan does not only work against.yeast but also some other micro organisms.
