How do u tx lyme induced cc

No net at home but can read replys on phone

Very bad pain....getti g worse...way worse than pain that I thought was heart attack but was lyme causing cc

Doc gave stronger inflam. Meds

Ice is my friend

OUCH!!!!!

All I know is the anti-inflammatories. Then you have to worry about acid reflux causing the same pain.

Hi LPkayak,

I had costochondritis for two years prior to lyme dx.

I was taking arthrotec 75 twice daily. It barely took the edge off.

Physio didn't help-was going to try prolotherapy but didn't have enough money.

Ice. Make sure you still take full breaths, even though it hurts. Otherwise you can get a lung infection.

Within 2 weeks of doxy-costochondritis was gone.

Are you on abx for lyme?

My heart goes out to you. CC has to be about the worst pain.

I do heat instead of ice. I find that it helps more. I killed my stomach on NSAIDs due to costo pain, and I cannot take them ever again.

Mine returns when I am having bart flare ups, or when I am aggressively treating bart and lyme (as I am right now).

Hi LP-arthrotec is a coated NSAID that is supposed to be gentler on the stomach than say, voltaren or celebrex. Personally I used it for so long-i hate taking it now. I swear my stomach makes extra acid and mucus before I even swallow the darn things.
If you can get by without an NSAID, I highly recommend NOT taking one.

There is a stinky rub I use when inflam gets really bad called "Wood Lock". It's a Chinese rub...blows A535 and tiger balm right out of the water. Haha. Stinks to high heaven, but works.

I tried acupuncture and chiropractic for costo also. Didn't help. Chiro made it worse. Anytime my back was adjusted (middle back), it aggravated the costo.

The osteo I saw afterwards said it was slipped ribs.

Which I think was the most plausible explanation because the pain in my sternum radiated to my spine. The spot between my shoulder blade.

But doxy fixed the costo right up.

Also, things that aggravated-using both arms at the same time for a task. Leaning forward so my innards slightly stressed the sternum-ouch! Pulling.

I sure hope it clears up quickly for you.

I will say a prayer for you tonight for some relief from it.

yes-a lot better. doc gave me higher pre for antiinflam...i know i have to be careful-it can hurt kidneys. half of what he prescribed makes a big difference.

yesterday surgeon gave me ok to lift again...but it still feels like i am tearing stuff inside when i do so i am not lifting much.

but after that i put walked in car and went to beach and spent 6 hours breating good air and even a short walk with walker to make etta happy.

im tuckered out today...going slow but very happy

some things that helped my costochondritis were serrapeptase and turmeric... (natural anti-inflammatories)... I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack..

Actually cc (I was told) is an inflammation of the muscles/tendons in the chest area.... so anything to get the inflammation down...

Tough when you are killing bacteria ....
