Hi Nonna,

I saw a ll psych about delusions and (what I thought) images that were not real. He asked about my sleep and dreaming, which was not very good and rarely could I remember dreams. I also for years has needed multiple naps and was always tired. He pointed out the often people with lyme don't get REM sleep. He sugggested that the delusions and images (which always happened while resting with eyes closed) were awake dreams. He put me on Trasadone for sleep, as well nuvigle for being more awake. The worked. But more importanly for me the nuvigle created enough awakeness to research my lyme, find a new lyme doctor, and recommit to the time, money and all to get better. Getting insurance coverage for nuvigle was a hassel (it costs about 450 for a two month supply out of pocket.) The doctor had given me some free samples and I knew it worked for me. My new lyme doctor sent an appeal letter to the ins and now the nuvigle is covered. For some reason it was easier to get nuvigil covered than porvigil.

I found that getting the 250 mg was the least costly (for the ins and me) but have found 125mg in the morning (and only then) works best for me. Hope this helps. best, Rob H

I take nuvigil, it helps me to get out of bed in the morning and think a little bit more clearly. It also helps keep me from spontaneously falling asleep so much during the day.

My new ins is not covering nuvigil so I'm about to switch and try provigil, hope it works as well or else I'll be in trouble [Frown]

I'm taking a mid dose of both, my doc doesn't like to use the highest dose for some reason?

sammy: what type of Dr rx'd the nuvigil? I need that med so badly.

Rob_h: did you see a regular psych prior? Was the LL psych appt any different? I have a local regular psych that I've had for years. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to switch and travel to see a LL psych?

lax mom, my PCP prescribes it for me. I've been having these problems for several years. The provigil is helping too and is a generic so it may be less of a fight with your ins co.

A neurologist would also RX this med so that may be an option if you already have a good doc instead of switching to a new LL psych.

Good luck,I know that this is all so difficult
