I was wondering if anybody else had any experience with Lactoferrin and Xylitol as a protocol for attacking biofilm? I just started.
It is: 1st week abx & cryptolepis ; 2nd wk herbals & cryptolepis; 3rd wk Lactoferrin and Xylitol (no cryptolepis); 4th wk abx and cryptolepis; next wk OFF.
What has been your experience?

Why wouldn't you just take it everyday?
This really peaked my interest so I have been doing a search. I didn't know how xylitol works. " Xylitol is a natural, completely safe sugar alcohol which many strains of bacteria cannot digest. They attempt to digest it, but it kills them. It has been clinically proven to reduce ear infections, recurrent nasal infections, and cavities (it kills S. Mutans)."
If that is true it is pretty exciting because making stuff with xylitol and consuming it throughout the day might actually kill the biofilm in our blood. I also read sugar free pudding has a lot of xylitol. I will have to check that out. Imagine going on a xylitol pudding and lactoferrin diet!
Wilcott uses xylitol and lactoferrin to heal diabetic wounds. He is 77% successful healing wounds that would have required amputation before. Here is an interview.
I quit using lactoferrin alone because I read it does not break down biofilm; it just inhibits it's formation by binding with iron. I still have substantial amounts of biofilm, as viewed in my blood by F labs, and I used lactoferring and boluoke/lumbrokinase for over a year.
I am seeing a NP and hope to set up EDTA chelation which binds with the iron (as does lactoferrin) to break down biofilm.
Montana State University is leading the research on biofilm. That is just 45 minutes from where I live. I would like to donate myself as a guinea pig.

I tried for a month. Didn't notice improvement.
But just read in Buhner that breaking up biofilm spreads bartonella colonies everywhere, so one should avoid biofilm busting regimes (sp?) until bad ol' Bart is gone.
So maybe I felt worse because I was spreading Bart colonies all over.

Nefferdum, I think my LLMD is taking a multi-pronged attack. I have had lyme 17 years...its like pulse dosing. I was told NO IRON while on, which is fine iron pills make me sick anyway.
In the second cycle month, I double the dose of Lactoferrin, if tolerated. These two substances together are likely to cause major herxing as you attack the biofilm then hit it with abx and herbal protocol and Crystolepis. The Xylitol can cause bad diarrhea if you take too much.

Does anyone else get diarrhea/intestinal discomfort/major nausea when eating food contain xylitol? I do, every time I eat anything with Xylitol in it...
EWT1638, how are you taking the Xylitol? (in food, by itself, etc?)

Yes - I sure do! Nasty nausea... Love it in chewing gum, though...
Make sure the xylitol you get is from Birch and not corn (GMO).

I echo to go for the birch form of xylitol and also to keep amounts low to avoid diarrhea. I have used it over about 7 years now, but not as part of a regimented protocol. I also use a toothpaste with xylitol in it for its oral biofilm-fighting properties. It is frequently an ingredient included in a neti pot rinse too for its antibacterial and anti-biofilm potential.
I got it originally because it was touted as being a safe sugar replacement from the candida point of view, but some health gurus are lukewarm about it (because of its wood alcohol content, I believe). I have stomach issues and would not be sure about using it intensively.

That is good to know about birch versus corn. I will be careful of eating too much of it. Maybe gum is the way to go, with pudding just once a day.
I think one of my biggest denials that got me into trouble was that honey and maple syrup are not "good for you" when you have bacteria that use any form of sugar to grow, just like cancer cells.
I am on a trip right now but when I get home I am going to attempt to stay off any kind of sugar and just use xylitol for light sweetening and fruit. It is very hard to break this habit but if I can stick with it, maybe I will not need the stromectol to stay close to remission.

I have been using this in my protocol since June. My doctor pulses and I use it during the initial days of my cycle. I think the theory is that it breaks the biofilm down and then the abx that I take in the rest of my cycle kill whatever was released in the biofilm.
I herx'd pretty badly when I first took it.

Hopeforbest- I take 1/2 tsp in 1/2 cup water (filtered).
Terv, I herxed late last night. I had the first dose earlier that morning...weird stuff. For example, all I could hear in my head were disjointed nursery rhymes. I couldn't remember the whole one, just fragments strung together...but I could answer questions about what I needed: usually more water!
I always take Burbur under the tongue when I have an episode, plus pinella and sparga. Double vision is typical for me, balance so poor you can't walk straight, then my head got really 'heavy' feeling, I got extremely cold all over and then that 'cold liquid under the skin' of my legs feeling... It is always my legs. Weakness in all my limbs, then I usually fall asleep...immediately.
