Hello,

I have been feeling beat for the past 2 weeks. The past 2 days have been a lot worse. I am exhausted, weak, little to no appetite, anxious and have a low fever that comes and goes.

Any suggestions on how to manage when we lymies are feeling this way?

I've been drinking water throughout the day (not guzzling....just drinking normally), lemon water, hot water with honey & cinnamon in the mornings.

I've been resting as much as I can.

Anything else I could do? I do not get the flu vaccine, and I am terrified about the possibility of getting the flu.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Vitamin C!

Also Take Care supplement which has elderberry.

But if you are feeling worse after two weeks, I would recommend going in. Could be that a cold turned into a sinus infection or something.

Make sure your Vit D level is high. I take 10,000 IU daily.

The standards for Vit D in the U.S. are too low.

Elderberry extract is great. It has been shown in studies to shorten the duration of the flu by 3-4 days. It can be taken everyday as an immune booster and in heavier doses for a viral illness.

To avoid the colds and flu make sure to wash your hands often, especially after being out of the house, when someone in your house has a cold or flu, before eating, and before touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

Move away from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Never, never, never touch your eyes, nose, mouth or food with unwashed hands....follow that rule and you can avoid illness.

Thank you so much for these suggestions! This is really helpful.

I've never heard of elderberry, but I'm going to grab some. I'm also upping my C & D3.

Hopefully, this passes before it gets too much worse. Having this illness stinks....there is always a fear of a flare up.

Thank you again!!!

Sambucol elderberry tastes good, but it never did work for me.

Lime or lemon juice freshly squeezed with truvia and water taken with a straw does help. Think fresh vitamin C.

Nature's Way Olive Leaf extract capsules 2 at a time every few hours helps.

Hot green tea taken after the above helps, too. Drink plenty of it all day long.

Freshly minced garlic with olive oil on a piece of toast or English muffin is yummy and good for you.

Rest, sleep, and rest some more.

Good luck!

Mine lasted a little over a week.

I finally had a day when I felt better than the day before.....but I had to run a couple of errands in time for the holidays.

Now, a couple of days later, I am exhausted!!! I was finally getting better.

I love the garlic toast idea! I've been adding fresh garlic to my meals whenever I can.

Glad you're feeling better, randibear. It's never fun to have to feel awful AND have to worry about a flare up.

Whenever I feel a symptom that I USED to feel when I was really sick....it just brings up a lot of scary, awful memories.

Thanks, all, for the tips! I'll keep at them!

I agree about keeping Vitamin D levels optimal. I spend a lot of time in Florida and still take vitamin D daily (about 8000 IU per day) and still am not as high in D as my doctor would like.

Be careful with elderberry. I know it's helpful to people with a low immune system, but mine was always hyper-reactive. Elderberry made my immune system react even more to the flu or other viruses. I need to take things to calm my immune system down once I get sick!

Turmeric is great for me. Also, old fashioned bone broth. Apple cider vinegar/honey in water. Vitamin C. And I'm a believer in garlic as well. But nothing to make my immune system more reactive than it already is. And rest.

Thanks, sixgoofykids.

I've also been trying cinnamon and honey in warm water.

I'm trying to remember if I'd heard something about taking Vitamin C. Does it cause herxes or symptoms or something? I'll look it up. [Smile]

I feel better today than yesterday, but still super tired. I plan on taking it easy until I'm back on track.

Hopefully, I'll find that it's not a flare up and will pass soon.

jwick25 -get the Seagate brand Olive Leaf Extract capsules (I am not associated with this company in any way), as it has the most active ingredient of OLE in it.

Start with 1 capsule 3x per day (away from any abx) and preferably with food so as not to upset your stomach, then increase until you are taking 3 capsules 3x day. This should help.

Look at their website www.seagateproducts.com for more information. You can also order it from Amazon (I have done this also).

Dr. Morton Walker wrote a very informative book about Olive Leaf Extract. See if your library carries it. Amazon sells it for a couple of dollars (or less).

SeaGate Olive Leaf extract, Maitake D Fraction drops, Astragalus drops, echinacea drops, Quantum Super Lysine plus, and Vitamin C caps. I take a healthy dose of each every three to four hours.

I also drink a lot of herbal tea with freshly grated ginger, grated garlic and grated lemon peel and add the juice of the lemon to it and use no added sweetener of any kind. I grate it all on a culinary microplane and it works really well and it's easy to do. I also use organic ginger, garlic and lemon.

Quantum Thera Zinc Spray works real well to sooth an irritated throat.

I love all the advice given above, but I would stay away from all forms of sugar. It lowers the immune system and then viruses can flourish. Be careful with the syrups (sugar). I avoid them.

I've been avoiding sugar big time. I am actually following the candida diet, as I sometimes deal with overgrowth.

I just wonder how long this should last. When do I go from thinking I'm fighting a bug to thinking it might be a flare up?

I've been off antibiotics for a while (1-2 years?) and would hate to have to start up again.

Also under stress, and that never helps anyone. [Smile]
