I did my first round of Coartem.

Does Coartem cross the blood brain barrier ?

The reason I ask is that while napping I had a flash of terror. Kind of hard to explain. I was not asleep justed deeply relaxed and I had of flash of something that was really frightening. The part of my brain the was concious recognized something and tried to make sense of it. When I was fully awake I couldn't remember what caused the fright.

Anyone else have a similar experience ?

This happened twice during the three days of my first round. Fortunately it did not produced bad dreams.

Either because I am cautious or chicken I only did half dose the first round. I am kind of worried about upping the dose.

Thanks !

Babesia causes anxiety so maybe it was a herx. I never experienced anything like that with Coartem but I have with other drugs - not exactly the same but similar. I was herxing.

Coartem is the drug that got me over babesia. I pulsed every 2-4 weeks while I was using malarone. Great drug and i believe it is supposed to be very safe. You can look up side effects and interactions here:

What do you mean by "pulsed" - how do you define that? Some weeks on, some off? Thanks.
