I've had serious toxicity issues, after trying many different treatments that only helped so much my LLMD did a specific blood test and cam back with this:

"You have one mutation of the MTHFR gene. This DNA Analysis evaluates the presence of one or both of two mutations: C677T and/or A1298C, the presence of which represents a genetic predisposition for difficulty in detoxing by a certain pathway involving "methylation." I am taking Deplin and 5000mg B12, as directed.

Any body had a similar situation? If so, has this done any good?

Oh, had a 1/2 glass of wine last night...triggered many problem areas of pain, headache and neuro issues. I had been relatively (except being tired, sleep difficulties and slow cognitive functioning).

I have one mutation for the C677T gene. My doc said I don't process folate properly and need to supplement with methylfolate. It does seem to help a little with toxicity for me, but it's no magic bullet. Herbs seem to help me better.

If anything, I hope the methylfolate will help prevent the potential problems that C677T cause like heart problems and stroke.

The other one, A1298C, makes it so you don't process B12 correctly. I don't have that and have personally never felt any difference with B12 supplementation.
