I'm going to be starting rifampin. Starting low and slow. Has this helped anyone and did anyone do okay on it? I have heard nothing but horror stories about bad herxes wild heart rates, awful rage feelings and worse dizziness. Please share your experience. Thanks.

I've heard 50/50 on comments.

This is my second round of battling bart.

1st time Oct to Dec 2012 on Rif, Zith and Doxy.
Stopped due to elevated liver enzymes. Dove right in full dose, and a week or so later added Doxy. My head knew something was working.

started again last October with rif, mino, and plaquenil. herxed hard or 6 weeks, now seeing good improvements

your mileage may vary

I started low and went slow also.

First I was on it with mino. And then with zith and IV meds for lyme.

Starting low is important.

I did have a herx with it at 300 mg a day. Took me about ten days to be comfortable with my head space.

I waited two weeks? Maybe 20 days ? To move up to 600 mg per day.

It helped me wonders with bartonella. Saved many relationships in my life that are important to me.

It is important to have detox measures in place and to let those around you know you may be a bit off for a few weeks while you adjust to it.

It needs to always be paired with other abx.

I was on it for 6? Or more months.

It's seems to be a miracle for some and a horror for others.

I hope it works for you.

I have a gene mutation that makes it impossible for my body to process it correctly.

I love it. Absolutely my favorite oral antibiotic. My bartonella is of course not gone but I still love it. Hope it works for you. Start slow and make sure you take lots of liver support. Good luck. I hope it works for you.

I took rifampin for 8 months and had no problems. It definitely helped me kick some bartonella butt. I was terrified to take it as well... just remember that everyone is different. Start slow and build up. Good luck to you!
