I can see now that after putting pieces together of my individual puzzle, put simply:

a)I had pain after eating for ever
b) I was diagnosed with blastocystis
c)dairy and gluten always bothered me the most

My conclusion of a terrible flair I am having is blastocystis.

I got some very good help from another thread, but I am looking for more, if possible

diet: good lean proteins, right? is that like nuts? chicken, fish, bison? only boiled? baked?

liquids: I am so dehydrated... ugh
should I have only water? when I feel better can I have green tea? coffee? juice?

fruits and veggies: I read you can get blasto from this, and OFTEN, so do you only eat cooked veggies and fruit?

Also, this flair up.... how long can it last? mine comes in exact waves of pain every 60 or 30 or 15 minutes when acute. Does it act this way for everyone?

how do you get through the pain? The Morphine in ER helped a couple weeks ago, but I can't really get that for daily use, haha

anything else would be helpful- this is just a small list of my questions, but tick brain is calling me...

thanks ahead of time!

Hi Lisa:

Just one thought that worked for me to stay hydrated is "pure coconut water". Readily available and it is very mild tasting and electrolyte balanced and you can add it in to mild teas.

Like chamomile (good for your nerves), digestive herbs like ginger, peppermint, cardamon, anise, slippery elm, cinnamon, lemon grass, fennel seed, caraway, galangal.

You can throw them in a pot -- I usually grind them in the coffee grinder which is just used for spices. Also organic orange or lemon peel (only organic so you don't get pesticide residue).

I always save my organic peels by slicing them as thin as I can off of the fruit and letting them dry on a plate in the cupboard in small pieces. Make sure you spread them out so they don't get moldy. They keep well that way.

Or you may find a good organic herbal tea mix at the store. Traditional medicinals "throat coat tea" is very healing on the stomach as well as the throat. Made from all organic slippery elm, marshmallow root, licorice, wild cherry bark, bitter fennel, cinnamon and orange peel.

You will find by trial and error what agrees with you stomach and what doesn't and I think we are all different because of lyme and whatever parasite/pathogen mix we have messing up our immune systems and causing sensitivities to various foods.

I have used this "tea" as liquid in "congee" (well-cooked rice porridge that is used by the asian community for sick stomach). My ND recommended this for healing the tummy. Well, it is soothing and easy to digest but not a cure-all for sure.

Basically it's:

2 cups of rice
8 cups water
1 teaspoon sea salt,or himalayan not table salt.

You can doctor it up by adding half broth, chicken or vegetable instead of all water. You can put in ginger. The trick is long slow cooking, great for throwing in the crock pot.

You can top with bits of cooked fish, chicken, veggies, whatever but if you are really queasy, just plain might be better to start.

The pain is likely from muscle spasms in the gut. This is smooth muscle, so a smooth muscle relaxant like Benadryl may help.

I didn't have the terrible gut pain from blasto but did have severe nausea and lost 15 lbs because I couldn't eat.

Definitely cook all veggies and wash fruits.

If you have blasto, you most likely have other infections such as giardia, d. fragilis, e. histolytica, cryptosporidium and worms, worms, worms.

I would suggest finding an EDS practitioner or someone who is skilled at muscle testing. Stool samples are pretty much worthless for parasite testing. Sometimes you get lucky and find blasto and occasionally giardia, but they never find worms such as ascaris or tapeworm or pinworms.

I ate protein mostly when I could eat. Green veggies were out.

well, it seems that I have the stomach VIRUS going around. and probably NOT a blasto thing, but I am sure it is making my bout with virus worse!

I am still nauseated and have some sharp abdomen pain at times. I am eating all most normal foods, but have not bee right for about three weeks now

I find it amazing that this virus going around has same symptoms as blasto!

My llmd says they think it is the virus.

I think I will try that rice recipe, thanks [Smile]

I didn't know what Blastocystis was, so I looked up the definition and it is a parasitical infection. You definitely need to treat the parasites!!

Here is a link to the "Parasite Warriors Support Thread" currently on Lymenet which can help you:

Who diagnosed you with blasto? I was diagnosed with it about 7 yrs ago. Terrible cramps and the stool definitely looked wrong. There was no mistaking it. It was picked up on stool testing.

You may be dealing with the stomach flu, its been going around a lot here as well.

California Poppy extract or tincture is antispasmodic, calming to the nerves, digestive system and even Dr. Oz recommends it for pain.

It does not contain opiates, is non-addictive and is very calming and promotes relaxation and sleep. It is helpful for treating the pain of stomach and gallbladder colic.

Don't take it when you need to stay alert -- it really can make you kind of sleepy.

It helped my digestive problems -- stomach calms down pretty quickly with this.

It's kind of bitter -- I take mine in pomegranate juice.

It is very safe and even given to children.

You can ask your ND if it is okay to take.

You can try a local health food store or order online. The brand I use is a canadian one, but you have good reputable herb sellers in the US.

I know mountain rose herbs is good and they do sell organic california poppy extract. Oh, and start slow, I only use 6 drops but I'm sure we all vary on our ideal dose.

Maybe someone else knows a good place?
