I've tried all those except the blood letting.
No relief for me with any of those alternative methods and I'm not attaching leeches to me. Yikes!
I know different things work for different people.
Cupping just left me with welty bruises and more pain.
Antibiotics is the only thing that's given me relief.

Ibuprofen helps my arthritis...i wish it didnt cuz it messes up gi but i cant walk at all without it
I know a woman who probably had lyme...she had a big cancer surgery and needed a lot of blood transfusions cuz she lost so much blood
Family and doc could not believe how easily she recovered
Some think getting rid of lyme blood and getting new blood saved her..maybe bloodletting does work

I think bloodletting (draining out blood) is different than replacing blood like in a transfusion.
The article doesn't mention replacing blood. It mentions draining blood.

Mine has gotten better with bicillin shots. It got waaaaaaay worse when I was on rifampin.
The pain is less, however my body is very stiff and weak. I feel 100-years old getting up from a chair, but I can go up and down stairs with very little pain now.
I'm very slow, but it doesn't hurt as bad to do things like type.

Well in my case and for others I hope. The lyme arthritis is gone. I no longer feel like a 100 year old person.
Now I feel like a normal 52 year old. No arthritis , stiffness and very strong .
In February of 2013 , I felt normal I was out of work for 2 years.
I took it one day at a time did not want to over do anything.
April 2013 went back to work mandatory 6 to 7 days a week. Minimum of 12 hours a day .
I am a construction laborer
Did this till November , job completed , no missed days or nights.
No pain , etc . So yes it can get better

My llmd told me after 3 yrs aggressive abx that my joint pain might never get better. It had to do with me having hla 2 and 4 genes
My arthritis started at age 33 and was first dx ra then changed to fibro and by 35 confirmed oa
Im 65 now. For 30 yrs my oa has continued to spread-confirmed by xrays
It is almost every joint
Abx tx helped many lyme sx and i was able to teach pe for 30 yrs and ride and kayak with modifications until 3 yrs ago
Some say my genes are like the ones who were healthy...took the lyme vaccine and got really sick with untreatable arthritis forever
They say when Bb got in my body it started the process of oa and nothing will stop it
Others say Bb eats cartilage
I have had many surgeries and docs always say they cant believe how bad my cartilage is for my age

i hear of ppl getting better with tx so i am confused
I read all i can about lyme and arthritis and it seems to me there are two things going on
-lyme arthritis with typical large swollen joint that gets better with tx
-osteo arthritis induced by Bb that can be managed but never cured
But im not a doc and i still dont understand what is really happening

Randi-one priblem with your question is there are many kinds of arthritis -lyme-that i still dont know definution of -rheumatoid -osteo -psoriatic And many more-they are like different diseases

Systemic enzymes from vitalzym on an empty stomach are the best anti inflammatory I also take LDN For the most part I am pain free, and I have HLA 4 and had horrible pain with a diagnosis of RA/OA. No symptoms of that anymore.
iherb.com is a great source for vitalzym. Read the reviews. Helps so much with inflammation. Best wishes

I am finding out that yes it can get better...but it has been a very slow process for me. My knees started to ache more and more over a period of months to years until one day out of the blue both started just burning like hell and no pain medication would even touch them. That is found out I had Lyme disease...although I knew many other things were wrong with me but lived in denial.
My experience with the knees...pain and stiffness quickly subsided within a few days of starting amoxicillin...only to return with a vengance. When I finally got cyst busters in the mix it started making a world of difference. The the switch from one cyst buster to another made huge improvement to the point now in daily life I am pain free. I still stay away from running and lifting becaust it still agravates them. At 13 months post diagnosis the Lyme arthritis has greatly improved...although at some points it seemed not to improve for months at a clip.
I am hoping my switch to penecillin shots gets rid of it all.

I guess I forgot to add what seemed to help my Lyme arthritis. Sadly not much. Even pharmacy NSAIDS didn't even take the edge off. It seems like may people have success with NSAIDS though.
Try some tumeric and boswellia.
A hot pad wrapped around the knee felt good as long as you could keep it wrapped.
Any high impact or stress events on the knees I stayed away from as it really made it flare up for weeks at a time.
Depending on what joints are affected for you give some of these a try.

I guess I remain unclear whether people think it is possible to have both RA or OA and Lyme and that there can be two different mechanisms for joint pain, or whether Lyme and coinfections are "the" causative agent for some type of arthritic conditions.

My knees were very responsive to the first round of cyst buster. The pain got noticeably worse during the on cycle but much better on the off cycle. After about 2-3 cycles on the first cyst buster it failed to seem to do any more. I switched about 5-6 months later and the pain got noticeably worse to the poitn i was hobbling around again and after two cycles I am predominantly pain free but still refrain from high impact and high stress activities.
I have noticed joint pain at the ball of each little pinky toe that seems to come and go too and I think it may be Lyme related.

I've actually never been officially diagnosed as having arthritis (just as having Lyme, and POTS, and an MVP).
I do have joint pain that sounds similar to what people experience with arthritis, and it's gotten significantly better with treatment. I have almost no pain now.
So... I think it might depend on whether you have arthritis, or just arthritis-like pain?

My son's arthritis went away and he had it all over his body.

That's what happened to me (except it's my wrist and hip). I'm still in the first couple month of tinidazole so can't see it's complete relief yet. Definitely gets worse during PMS.
