Does anyone have recommendations for bladder infection, supposed to start parasite meds but have bad bladder infection. Called the pharmacy they said okay to take expired antibiotics ( bactrim). My Primary care doc is out tomorrow and I'll call my LLMD tomorrow.

Cranberry extract may help. Can get capsules, or drink the juice (look for unsweetened, then dilute in water to make it more palatable).
Xylitol may also help.

I like d mannose and take it at the first sign of infection. Don't mess around with UTI's though, talk to your doctor. If they turn into kidney infections they can become quite serious.

D'mannose is my favorite too!
Soothes the lining of the bladder and stops e coli from sticking to the lining of the bladder and urethra.
D'mannose works good if you "load it" also. Take as one would take clindy... 3 times a day, at least two capsules at a time, at least till the irritation goes down.
A herbalist told me this and I did this for a week. Then did one capsule 3 times a day for a bit, then one capsule a day for maintenance.
She also recommended uva ursi, to increase urine flow, and for flushing everything out. Totally worked for me, but I don't like to recommend it because it might have side effects for some folks and can be a controversial herb. If you do choose to take it, research the risks just be sure there is no interaction with any other meds or your kidneys.
When I am at the peeing blood stage, sometimes cranberry juice full strength stings-makes it wosre. Soda pop, and anything diet makes my pee like battery acid, so I recommend avoiding those till the lining heals.
D'mannose is a good preventative to take every day also to prevent bladder infections.
Also marshmallow root is good for soothing irritated linings.
There's a tea called bladder-ease that tastes yummy iced and has marshmallow root in it.

I forgot to mention this. I did baking soda one time when I was out of bactrim. It worked! Haven't had one since.
