Well, do you want the accurate information or what the so-called authorities say, which is wrong?
IgM is usually the first antibody to show up, then IgG comes along.
The accurate info is that IgM can show up at any stage of the disease, because Bb is a shape shifter, keeps changing its outer surface protein to fool the immune system. But no lasting IgG antibodies stick around long enough to provide protection against subsequent bites, which is why a person can keep getting lyme from tickbites.
I will not even bother giving the party line, wastes time, prevents people from getting adequate treatment.
So, the bottom line is that IgM positive at any stage of the disease is a real positive.
Does she have symptoms?

"With most infections, your immune system first forms IgM antibodies, then in about 2 to 4 weeks, you see IgG antibodies. In some infections, IgG antibodies may be detectable for years.
Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.
But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies.
Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result." -- Dr C of MO

Yup. Positive. No question.
I hope she can see her result as a good thing. Many of us have treated for years based on indeterminate results. That is a huge psychological burden to those who question the diagnosis. And it can be much more difficult to access care without a positive test result.
And the there's the obvious, she KNOWS what lies behind her sx and Autoimmune dx. She can pursue appropriate tx and improve her health.
I know this is a devastating and confusing dx, but it's a good thing overall. Good luck to both of you.
