Hi, does anyone have early waking/sleep disturbance as a Babesia symptom [and are you sure its Babesia and not Lyme?] I have Babesia Microti and Lyme and haven't started treatment for either yet so not sure which one is causing this problem for me. I often wake up after just 3-4 hrs of falling asleep, and sometimes after just 1-2 hrs. Wide awake. Is this Babesia or Lyme do you guys think? Thanks!

surprise, what makes you say Bartonella? That's the least likely culprit for my sleep disturbance I thought??

Many things can cause poor sleep. If asked generally about Lyme, Bart, Babesia specifically and sleep,
the general trend would be Babs sleeps a lot, Bart insomnia.
Has been true for me. Lots of threads here (search function) about natural remedies to try for sleep.
Try and get your sleep to heal, best wishes, insomnia is rough, I know.

Burrascano does mention insomnia as a symptom of bart:
"Indicators of BLO infection include CNS symptoms out of proportion to the other systemic symptoms of chronic Lyme. There seems to be an increased irritability to the CNS, with agitation, anxiety, insomnia, and even seizures,...." (page 24)

I read that Bartonella causes insomnia and BB causes sleepiness.
But also think hormones (even beyond adrenals). Don't know your age or sex, but I'm a woman of 39 and I suffer a lot of sleep problems due to peri-menopause. They are worst the week before my period.
Another possible cause that can tie into adrenals and other hormones is low blood sugar. I used to suffer middle of the night waking for hours almost every night and I finally figured out that if I got up and ate a little snack (I go for something well-balanced with carbs, protein and fat), I would fall back asleep and sleep well the rest of the night. If I don't eat some carbs with my evening meal, esp. the week before my period, I suffer the low blood sugar problem. I have a pretty good handle on it now.
