I asked for and was given Rx for IV Vit. C - six grams per week.

Everywhere I have priced the IVC has been too expensive. One must buy 50cc vials for ~$50.

Except....McGuff - compounded Ascorbic Acid.
50cc vial for ~$14.00. (25 grams).

I would hope to do this as a push i/o drip.
If I understood correctly - the dilution is 50/50.
12cc (6g) and 12cc sterile water. ??? (or normal saline?). Approx. 25cc.

I understand the solution must be protected from light while infusing.

I remember there is another "deal" with IVC.
Irritating veins? Is this dealt with by using more dilutant or slower infusion?

I would be infusing via saline lock or butterfly needle. (How thick is IVC?).

I really want to try this. Hoping IVC would not cause an IC flare like oral Vit.C does.

I think McGuff sends the vials and the patient can do the mixing. (I think that would be injecting 12cc of the Vit.C into the vial of sterile water).

(I have mixed Rocephin before but not for IV).

Thanks any thoughts/help.

I don't do well with C .. at all. Are you just trying to use it as an antioxidant?

Hi Tutu (Toot Toot!!!).

I just want to try Vit. C for its wonderful properties. Now that I have IV access I want to try it IV.

The info in my first post is incorrect - dilution is not 50/50 - alas.....I called McGuff again today. One has to watch the osmolarity - whatever. For approx one gram ascorbic acid - including dilutant - one would be pushing 30cc's. I could push 30cc - but hardly worth it for a gram. But - I would try it - will see.

I now do Glutathione IV pushes - and have seen vids where folks do Glut. and VitC pushes.
Granted - those vids probably are from folks wanting that combo for skin whitening purposes.

But it made me think that IVC pushes possible.
I wonder what dose the skin whitener crowd uses?

Yeah - any kind of VitC would probably cause an IC flare - but I just wanted to try it - just in case I would do OK.

Am tired.....sorry - rambling.....

I was told to use the liposomal vit C, as it is as good as IV
I can use 9 -10 g a day, this is the same as 75 mg IV
and a lot easier
