I recall reading that as well, and that perhaps xylitol may be even stronger. I use one or both, depending on what I am adding sweet to.

If I can't handle sugar, is is possible I can handle Stevia?
Sugar puts me in bed.

Stevia is the recommended sweetener for lyme patients. It does not cause candida.
It is a totally different plant from sugar cane. And, sugar is so refined that it is actually poison.
I have never heard of anyone having a problem with stevia. You can buy sodas that are sweetened with stevia. You can buy a very small bottle of stevia at a health food store and use it to sweeten foods that you make. Refrigerate after opening.
You will see that Burrascano names it as an acceptable sweetener for the anti-yeast diet. It is healthy.

My son's LLMD has him take xylitol as part of his protocol. I think this sweetener along with pulsing doxy, rifabutin, and flagyl have contributed to 6 herxes over the last few months. Before that, we treated with other oral abx for 5+ years without a single herx.

Xylitol is also good for yeast/thrush in the mouth as well as biofilms.
