The dentist should be able to scrape them off.

It's from the change in bacterial balance of your mouth. It stops happening when you stop abx once you get a dentist to clean them.

Yes, had them. Dentist and hygienist didn't believe they were from my lyme experience. They cleaned them and they've stayed clean ever since.

You can scrape them gently yourself with a tool using the flat edge, not the pick. See a video online on how to do it.

Also, a sonic toothbrush helps immensely to remove plaque and stains.

I got it from doxy. It took 2 cleanings for it to get off, but they did it. The dentist said he's seen it before from people who are on different long term pharmaceuticals.

I've not tried the charcoal mentioned in links below but this topic is of great interest to me, as I've not been able to go to a dentist in over 6 years so I have a lot of trouble with stains.

Even natural toothpastes with any degree of mint burn my mouth terribly and any tooth whiteners, even if "natural" are likely far too strong.

My oral tissue is so compromised by constant ulcers -

- and the severe hyperacusis and even slight sounds & vibrations triggering seizures makes it beyond miserable and unsafe for me to even try to go to dentist (unsafe for me and them). Plus, no way to get there or to pay.

So, I have to figure it out for myself. So, I welcome all the replies here from others.

From some file notes I've gathered:

http://www.mesadentalsd.com/natural-ways-whiten-teeth/

Activated Charcoal - lessens teeth staining

http://bodyunburdened.com/activated-charcoal-unlikely-natural-teeth-whitener/

Excerpts:

Activated charcoal readily absorbs tannins, which are the guiltiest party when it comes to teeth stains (tannins are found in coffee, tea, wine, etc.),

leaving you with perfectly pearly whites. Even better, activated charcoal doesn’t absorb the calcium salts found in tooth enamel, meaning it does not cause any damage or sensitivity.

[end excerpt . . . I cannot vouch for the accuracy of this, though]

One book (or article?) I've read on the issue of staining stated that it's more about teeth not having the minerals they should from the inside out, to build strong enamel . . . that deficiencies, when corrected, make a difference.

Magnesium, for one, is very important to teeth.

Google: teeth, magnesium

. . . and, there may be mention of that in this set, too:

Topic: MAGNESIUM - Informational Links set

SILICA, too, is something I recall.

Especially after any acid containing foods but, really, after any food, be sure to swish with clear water and wait 30 minutes before brushing so as not to wear down enamel. Acid weakens enamel and that water swish and half hour wait help enamel strengthen up enough for brushing.

I don't know whether this is true, not having done it myself - someone told me they swished their mouth with foodgrade hydrogen peroxide frequently and were able to get their teeth to lighten.

Ahhh, Robin. I tried that on my brother's suggeston, very diluted and it took off so much tissue that I could not eat food for a week from the harsh burn. I just have no protective layer at all to my mouth tissue.
