Hello.....So taking Nystatin for the first time a looong time and finding that I am getting flashing lights in my vision a few hours after taking it.

Went to eye doctor and all looks fine. Do you think a yeast herx could cause visual auras such as flashing lights in peripheral vision?

I am prone to migraine auras but this seems to be directly related to the Nystatin.I am allergic to yeast and believe that Nystatin is a form of yeast so perhaps it is an allergic recation? May switch over to herbals... Any thoughts? Thanks

When my mom had flashing lights in her vision, it was detached retina.

Thanks.....I know my retina is ok as I have been to 3 different types of eye doctors. I do get an increase in these flashing lights when my TBI's are flaring so who knows...maybe time to jump back into treatment again...

Could be a number of things I suppose so stopped the Nystatin and still getting them along with some other symptoms.... DW

I thought Nystatin killed yeast? I didn't think it WAS a yeast. Maybe you are thinking of Florastor?

Excellent point Judie makes. Check all your past Rx.

And also ibuprofen can hurt delicate blood vessels due to ibuprofen's action of constructing blood vessels (not a good thing).

I've had a lot of flashing and also quivering / spasms (nystagmus) due partly to various tick borne infection but also to inner / middle ear (vestibular) complexities.

MAGNESIUM seems to help both flashing and nystagmus. And for "over firing" of nerve impulses that can trigger flashes.

Also important to rest your eyes in the dark -- cover (with a clean tissue each time between any fabric eye mask) for a full dark rest several times a day and any time you get the flashing.

If you have fluorescent bulbs, you might avoid those and use either an incandescent or LED. Cree makes a good LED that my eyes do okay with but most of mine are the older kind. Fluorescent bulbs can really mess with the eyes of those with lyme / TBD.

Good luck.

Antioxidants may need some adjusting to bring up the levels, too. Most liver support is all about that yet MANGOSTEEN might be your best buddy right now.

Also see the EYE BOOK below.

Be sure to avoid ibuprofen as that constricts all blood vessels.

LIVER & KIDNEY SUPPORT & and several HERXHEIMER support links, too.
