... and many of you smarter than your run-of-the-mill MD.
So here's the question that drives me crazy 24/7:
Where does the boat-rocking sensation in babesiosis actually come from?
I mean, I know it's babesia causing it, but where does it come from?
I don't feel it's a vestibular issue in my case. My ears are just fine (knock on wood). I feel it's a "brain issue". Is it brain inflammation?
My (famous) LLMD has mentioned that it might be neuropathy (I also have skin burning), but I'm just not sure.
I have this symptom 24/7. It gets worse with stress, but it's always there. When it's really bad the head pressure gets worse, my entire body feels heavy.
It is NOT "normal" vertigo. There is no dizziness. It's just CONSTANT rocking under my feet while I'm walking.
I'd like to know what the cause is, and feel it might be brain-related. What do the bugs actually DO to make me sway and rock like this?
Please help, I am SO sick of this!!

Thanks for your response. Maybe I wasn't expressing myself the right way ...
I don't want to know the mechanism (how they do it), but rather: What is the CAUSE of the boat-rocking. Is it a brain issue? If so, the symptom would never even be touched by drugs that don't cross the blood-brain barrier.
Do Mepron/Malarone even cross the blood-brain barrier?
I'm seeing the best of the best. And so far, I'm not getting better. It seems I'm out of options.

Google GASTROPARESIS. It is when the stomach can't empty food properly and therefor cause a rocking sensation.
One of the causes is a damaged Vagus Nerve. It is most likely caused by inflammation and infection for Lyme sufferers. Parasites can also cause this. Check out the PARASITE WARRIORS SUPPORT THREAD here on lymenet.
Hopefully it will resolve when the infection is gone.

I don't know, but I got rid of babesia and the boat sensation left.
I took many rounds of clindamycin/quinine (not really recommending it), then malarone, then finished off the babs with about 2 months of zith and artemisinin.
Suddenly it was gone. I pray you find the key!

It could be brain inflammation throwing things out of whack and it makes sense that its often with head pressure.
Die-off in the head, sinuses, middle ear etc.. could be the cause.
Does glutathione lessen this?

Have you had any specific testing done?
For example, the "Dix-Hallpike" test can differentiate vertigo caused by a problem in the brain from vertigo caused by a problem in the inner ear.
("Vertigo" isn't only characterized by dizziness and spinning, but can include the "disequilibrium"/boat rocking sensation you describe...)
Certain kinds of disequilibrium have been related to low vitamin D levels (symptoms can actually increase at the end of winter when levels are lowest):

My educated guess is that the boat rocking sensation is coming from babesia's effect either on your inner ear..... OR on your central nervous system, possibly due to die off toxins.
You could try adding some detoxifying teas or tinctures into your regime such as Licorice root tea, fenugreek tea, sarsaparilla tea, ginger root, tea, dandelion root tea and burdock root tea.
Green powder juices with chlorella taken after Cilantro Tincture may also help to detoxify metals such as aluminum and mercury.
