I have really bad halos, glare, starbursts from headlights, and other vision issues for quite a while and having significant impact on my quality of life which all occurred after an adverse drug reaction to a medication.

Have had major eye conditions ruled out by ophthalmologist. What's left is they found dry eye and some inflammation / haze on the eye.

Eye doc (optometrist) who is familiar with Lyme suggests Lotemax (low dose steroid drop) for 2 weeks to bring down the inflammation and then suggested Restasis for the dry eye.

I'm very nervous with the steroid and well aware of staying far away from steroids with Lyme. Brought this up to him and he said several times its low dose and shouldnt go past the eye. Also unsure of the Restasis.

Would love feedback on this for anyone dealing with issues like these.

My LLMD okayed low dose steroid drops if the eyes were inflamed. Usually, you aren't on them for very long. I did need them once or twice during treatment.

I was told that Restasis is also okay. I did use it for a few years and might need to start using it again. It is very dry in Colorado and in the winter with the wood stove, saline drops aren't helping enough.

Thanks a lot Faithful. Did you have issues similar to what I mentioned above too?

I drink mangosteen juice to stop my eye symptoms, which were floaters, light sensitivity, eye muscle pain and beginning blurriness. I had been checked out by a neuro-opthalmologist and passed all their tests. I don't have dry eyes.

So within 24 hours of starting the juice, all my eye symptoms cleared up.

The juice has 43 xanthone compounds in it that scarf up free radical inflammation. I drink an ounce a day - I prefer the Mango-Xan juice version as it is the most tart. You can find mangosteen juice in health food stores and online.

Nyclymedoubt - I'm with Robin123, mangosteen works great for eye symptoms.

Also may want to try using some homeopathic eye drops (like Similacan brand) for dry and/or irritated eyes. They really work well. Can get in most pharmacies or health food stores.

"bad halos, glare, starbursts from headlights, and other vision issues "

IV glutathione cleared that all up for me, after years of being unable to drive at night and having the same issues.

"Lotemax (low dose steroid drop) for 2 weeks.."

Doc suggested a combo of the below items to lower inflammation and help eye problems. It worked very well. Eye doc thought I'd done steroids and even said he'd not seen steroids do so well before.

Vitamin C, Bromeliad, Wobenzyme, Quercetin, Vitamin E.

"Restasis for the dry eye"

I researched this drug and it was found in breast milk and was able to be passed along to nursing infants.

I was told since dry eyes is long term situation to use a natural- no preservatives- eye drop. Also noticed a new drop given to me as a sample (did not use it)- the main ingredient is "boric acid", like is used to kill roaches or wash heavily stained/dirty clothes in.

If I had a nickel for every time someone said low dose steroids would not go anywhere besides where you put them, or wouldn't be a problem, I could go to Disney World.

Make your own decision, but I'm done believing that bologna.
