I suggest you try just the epinephrine and see how much relief that gives you. Hopefully, that will be all you need.

Also, find out if you can take Benedryl along with that or starting tomorrow.

Take a prescription for the steroids or accept the pills if they give them to you, but do not take them until you see if you absolutely need them.

If you have trouble breathing, then you have to take the steroids.

If you are not currently on antibiotics, try to get on antibiotics before or while taking the steroids. That is Burrascano's advice.

This way, the antibiotics will act as a substitute immune system while the steroids are suppressing your natural immune system.

Keep us posted on what happens tonight!

Sometimes steroids are necessary if you are having a life threatening allergic reaction.

Sounds serious to me since they are giving epi too.

Hey tommyboy.

Don't be scared. It's just a histamine storm. TF is totally right - epi should be enough to calm anaphylaxis; antihistamines should do a good job of shutting down the reaction.

Steroids are rarely necessary but if they ARE -- Burrascano says never give steroids unless on antibiotics. It's going to be up to you whether you take them or not, so you could see how it goes and just not if you don't want to.

You'll be okay.

If it's anaphylaxis then accept the steroids. The epi wears off and the reaction can start up again. That's where the steroids come in.

It would also be good to give two kinds of antihistamines - benadryl and pepcid. Pepcid is an H2 antagonist.

If they don't think it's anaphylaxis then I would ask for the two kinds of antihistamines and see if you can bring it down that way.

Another midway option is a steroid cream - less systemic than taking it orally but still a steroid.

What about benadryl? That brings down hives for me. Also can make us sleepy.

It looks like allergies OR toxins OR BOTH!

People ignore toxins while taking all these killers.

Toxins is what sent me to ER. Body rash is just one symptom of toxicity (it could be allergy too).

The moment I left that ER and realized I was toxic, my life changed, literally. I stopped concentrating on killers for lyme etc, and started concentrating on CLEANING my body, strengthening my detox organs,...

Since that time, I never went back to ER again, despite multiple bites, relapses etc. In my case, toxins made my life a hell.

Cleaning toxins with LOADS of binders, liver kidney lymph supporting stuff, gave my life back IN SPITE OF infections.

Good post Brussels! It is so easy to forget about toxins (binders, lymph support)!

Tommyboy, you can detox with a coffee enema. They are easy to do and your liver will be cleaned in 15-20 minutes (you will feel better).

A person I know is very sensitive to everything and started doing the coffee enemas.

He said it was HUGE help for him. It's easy to do, he said.

Hi I was given epinephrine benadryl and pepcid and perhaps something else I can't remember. I did refuse the steroids and the dr. Did not like it.

I was really scared because I had already been sick for 2 weeks very sick to the point of being too weak to do anything or eat. I have lost a lot of weight. It's kind of hard to believe I'm still alive.

As some of you may know from my other posts as gigimac the screen name that is attached to my PC that I used to use when I had the strength to sit up I've had a dental infection for a long time.

I could never take the amount of clindamycin prescribed in order to get my tooth pulled. 2 weeks ago I suddenly felt very ill and I've been very ill ever since I don't know if it's my tooth causing it or something else.

I was on my 3rd day of day of low dose clindamycin when I became this sick.(I had been taking the clindamycin off and on as much as I could trying to get up to the right dos3. I don't know how to get out of this. The clindamycin was making me weak and I'm now unable to function. Bad virus? Bad tooth? I am really afraid of what will happen to me.

Is there anything I can do? Doc and dentist can't seem to help.allergic to penicillin and chest pain along with med interactions for zith. I really don't want to die.

I just went back and read your other thread. It sounds like abx are not good for you right now. Your body needs support.

Brussels is right, toxins from die off (along with the ones coming from your tooth) are making you feel bad. You need to detox all of that out of you. Also strengthen your immune system at the same time so you can get that tooth pulled.

Maybe you have detox issues like me? That might be why you herx so hard. At some point I realized abx were not for me (at least not full time). I shifted over to herbs and alternative support.

There are other things you can do, but right now I would detox if I were you (and go off of abx or at least take a break). What does your lyme doc think?

My lyme doctor wants me to try another abx but I don't feel like my dr. Is all that involved. I have only been able to reach the dr. Through text. Wouldn't even take a quick phone call from me.

Gentle ways to detox?

IMO, a coffee enema is the best. You will feel better in 15 or 20 minutes. I know it sounds like a pain, but it's worth it. You can try chlorella, but IMO the there is no comparison.

My heart is doing weird things, beating fast and feels erratic. Will a coffee enema affect that?

When my daughter was five, she had an allergic reaction to an abx that a doctor gave her. She developed an itchy rash all over. I took her to another pediatrician who went to his reference books and then gave her a shot of adrenalin and her rash disappeared while we were still in the office.

I don't know anything about medicine and don't know if this is risky or if it would be advisable in your case but just thought I would tell you about it.

My heart used to do that stuff too. The coffee is minimal caffeine (3 tablespoons of coffee to 4 cups of water) so it didn't seem to affect me at all. You can always start with 2 tablespoons.

I just googled this:

http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-7065/10-reasons-why-you-should-try-a-coffee-enema.html

http://sawilsons.com/library/basic-coffee-enema-procedure-and-recipe/

If you do a search here you will find more info too.
