Has anyone else developed a LOW white blood cell count and neutrophil count 5 months after possible tick bite? (Quest Lyme test was negative 2 months after poss bite)

I was in a tick infested area and had severe neurological issues and thankfully my doctor treated me with 30 days of Doxycycline and 14 days of IV Ceftriaxone.

I am still symptomatic daily and out of work but am now seeing a LLMD. I get results of my IGenex testing next week.

I researched the low blood counts and it says if could be result of autoimmune problem.
Thanks

What does the rest of your CBC look like? Are lymphocytes, monocytes, or eosinophils elevated? (Or high end of normal...?)

I would look at Ehrlichia. It does that and bloodwork can be subtle -- like a regular doctor would not comment. It can cause neuro problems especially in the extremities -- arms, legs and head.

YES! I have had a low white blood cell count since being sick.

I have read that it is because of antibiotics... your immune system thinks it doesn't have to fight.

Others say Lyme causes it. I do know Like Jordana said Erlichia can cause as well as Babesia.

I think mine is caused by Babesia, but I don't know.

A NP told me to take IP6 Gold, but I am trying Transfer Factor to give them a boost.

Thanks so much. As always the info and support provided here is so valuable!

My LLMD ordered the full panel of tests for Lyme and co-infections from IGenex so will hopefully have answers when I see him next week

AHCC, Activated Hexose Correlated Compound, would be helpful for your low white count.
http://info.ahccresearch.com/blog/bid/333899/How-AHCC-Affects-Different-Types-of-White-Blood-Cells

If you check for it at iHerb.com you can read reviews.
Although there are different brands, the basic compound is all manufactured by one firm in Japan.

Ask your LLMD about it.
You can google for AHCC white blood cells for more info.

Yes, I have this problem. It has actually gotten worse since abx treatment. However, I have started to feel better. So I am not using it as a gauge to my overall health. I do hope my numbers improve though over time.

Anaplasmosis can also cause low white blood cells.
