CBC and Chem panel of last week.
All normal except platelets.
Range 150-379 - I was 433.
Normally I'm in the 340's.
Never had this happen before.

My doctor is out of town.
I find it odd that everything else is normal on the CBC and CMP. Seems like something else should be off if something new/unusual brewing?

I asked the office to see if Labcorp could retest the sample. Perhaps the elevated P's a lab error?
How long do labs hold routine bloodwork?
Doctor won't be back until Monday - ten days after blood pulled.

I normally don't mind venipunctures - but this last one - don't know if coincidence - but my arm hurt for days later - numb etc.

Don't want to do that again anytime soon.

Or.......perhaps the numbness was saying something in regards to the platelets?

My pain and numbness has been really bad - getting worse past years.

I had already scheduled an appt. with a new neuro for this coming week.

Anyway......thoughts about elevated platelets?
TIA! I'm wigging just a bit.

Infections can cause a higher than normal reading. Bartonella is one that is noted for this to happen. It could already have become lower by now.

To be honest, I wouldn't worry about it. Chances are even the doctor will see it and possibly not bring it up. It isn't that far from a "normal" reading.

If another test in the future (month or more) shows the same reading you might want to discuss it with your doctor.

Mine are really low ..like im starting to worry low too..better up then down ?.. are you on any abx or treatment?
