I personally would not wait for candida to go down to start treating Lyme, because I think Lyme can start getting treated irregardless of whether we have candida kicking up, which many of us do. Just my humble opinion.
For example, I put myself on my own antibiotics and took my 25 years of fibromyalgia pain away in a week's time! And I had candida at the time.
So, earlier on, I too found out I had candida. I think it's easiest to go on a step-down diet rather than cold turkey. Like eliminate sugar but keep sweet fruits. It takes a week to 2 weeks usually to get over sugar cravings, then eliminate the sweet fruit.
At that point, the diet would be vegies, nuts, seeds, lean meat, and things you can eat and drink on a noncandida diet, which you can google for or get a nonyeast cookbook.
You need to be ready with nonyeast foods when you need to eat, when you get hungry.
